Brandon Snyder

The Orioles pick high school catcher/shortstop Brandon Snyder with the thirteenth pick. High school catchers are very, very risky, but this guy is supposed to be a fantastic athlete. Sickels' comments:

"Snyder may be my favorite high school hitter this year."

"How many catcher/shortstops do you see? It says loads about his athleticism, and he has a good bat too."

What else do we know about him?

Sounds good...
Granted, when it comes to the draft I know only what the media tells about prospects, but it sounds promising.

Maybe he can be the heir apparent to Javy Lopez, or if he's such a good athlete, move to another position a la Brandon Inge.

Why not 2005?

Snyder
Over at Minor League Ball, John Sickels (in the first round comments) said that "Snyder may be my favorite high school hitter this year."  Big upside pick.

Next two picks have been more polished college guys -- they sound fine, although I don't know enough to know if we passed up better options to get them.

Brandon
Brandon Snyder is a great guy.  I've known him for about 3 years, ate with him when Westfield won regionals, and had an opportunity to work out with him and meet his dad at Snyder Baseball Camp in Virginia.  I love the O's and I love Brandon.  So the O's WITH Brandon will be GREAT!!!!!!  Congrats Brandon, you deserve it.  See you when you play against the Cannons.
Congrats,
TJ Bartakke
