Something I want to put out there...

This hasn't really been brought up, but it's on my mind.

Larry Bigbie for Eric Byrnes was one horrific trade.

Byrnes with the O's: .243/.296/.364, crap defense, lots of gumption (amounting to nothing)

Bigbie with the Rockies: .237/.274/.288, didn't see his defense, on the DL now

Do you want Byrnes back for next season at this point? 27 games is 27 games, but he has been awful, will be 30 years old, and is really a total platoon player even at his best.

Not really
Maybe it could work out if he could stop running into the other players.

I didn't see any tears shed at Athletics Nation
I took a peek at Atheltics Nation at the time of the trade. They warned that the guy was a disaster in the outfield. The bat has been even less than expected/hoped. At the time of the trade, we wondered (I think it was you SC) if he could be a fourth outfielder. That sentiment alone indicated we did not have big expectations. He certainly hasn't proven he deserves a place on the team.

Larry has much more upside
At this point in his career. Byrnes is an accident waiting to happen out there. He constantly surrounds the balll..makes the routine look difficult. Very streaky hitter. We wasted alot of development of Bigbie to get this knucklehead. Actually, with the cast of rag tag players, under achievers, and should be retireds playing...he fits right in!

Horrific is too strong...
Bigbie was not any better than Byrnes, but he was younger. It seems more pointless than anything. It's not like we traded David Ortiz or something. Bigbie is not doing much in the ultimate hitter's park.

meant "horrific"
as in, "what a couple of horrific players"
Avoid the rhubarb, hurl it whitewash and have 'em wearing the old golden sombrero! Crackerjack, boys, crackerjack!
