In that article, Mease talks about "The Effect" as we will call it around these parts. He mentions that he thinks it might be showing up this month. It's a somewhat interesting article with links to a more interesting (interestinger) blog."The Orioles posted the exact same ERA for each of the first two months of the baseball season -- 5.54. Over the past dozen games, the staff thus far has a June ERA of 4.64, 14th among major-league teams and sixth among American League teams. I've often said that the biggest signs of the Mazzone Effect would be seen through Daniel Cabrera and Erik Bedard. Cabrera hasn't allowed a hit in his two June appearances (striking out 14 in 11 innings of work), and on Sunday Bedard pitched his best game since his May 17 performance against Boston."
That's almost 1 run per game (0.90). Isn't that the supposed amount of The Effect.
I, for one, will wait a few more starts (maybe til the all-star break) to see if this effect continues. At that point I may credit Mazzone and The Effect... especially if Danny Boy and EB keep it up. What do you think?
