There will be no Tejada Trade
Link: Ken Rosenthal
"It's over," an Astros official told FOXSports.com Sunday night. "We told them we're not dealing with them anymore."...
The Astros, according to a major-league official with knowledge of the discussions, feared that the Orioles would flip their most prized acquisition for Tejada -- Astros right-hander Roy Oswalt Â-- to Houston's cross-state rival, the Texas Rangers.
The Orioles, according to the official, intended to trade Oswalt to the Rangers for a package of three players -- third baseman Hank Blalock, Triple-A shortstop Joaquin Arias and one of the Rangers' top pitching prospects.
They also would have ended up with two other players from the Astros -- third baseman Morgan Ensberg and shortstop Adam Everett -- effectively making the deal a 5-for-1 for Tejada.
Presumably, the Orioles then would have spun one of the third basemen, Blalock or Ensberg, or shifted one of them to first, while moving their current third baseman, Melvin Mora, to the outfield.
...
The Angels, who offered the Orioles a package of right-hander Ervin Santana and Triple-A shortstop Erick Aybar for Tejada, also have pulled out of the Tejada discussions, the official says.
The Dodgers are not actively pursuing Tejada, other sources say.
Sounds over. But man, what a story that would have made.

As for my personal opinions
So it didn't work out. So the Astro's wised up and backed out. The fact that Oswalt was on the table and off the table so quickly tells me that the deal really was about to happen, and that makes me proud of my FO.
So no, it doesn't look like we'll be trading Miggy. But, true to their word, the FO did their best to hustle the league into getting them a high return. Maybe they overshot it a bit, but sometimes that's part of playing harball.

Its a mothefucker
Being here without you
Thinking 'bout the good times
Thinking 'bout the bad
And I won't ever be the same
It's a motherfucker
Getting through a Sunday
Talking to the walls
Just me again
But I won't ever be the same
I won't ever be the same
It's a motherfucker
How much I understand
The feeling that you need someone
To take you by the hand
And you won't ever be the same
You won't ever be the same

No one wants to play with me!
Why? Check out the paragraph from the Rosenthal article after the description of the flip of Oswalt to the Rangers:
The Astros, one major-league executive says, feared that the Orioles would flip Oswalt, their most prized acquisition for Tejada, to Houston's cross-state rival, the Texas Rangers.
A National League executive disputes that theory, saying the Astros "knew all along" that the Orioles were trying to flip Oswalt. The executive says that the Orioles indiscreetly shopped all of the players they were offered to other clubs, calling it "no way to do business."
So not only is Miggy not going anywhere, we probably won't be able to move ANYBODY today. Great going, guys.
And apparently, Angelos vetoed several versions of a Tejada trade over the weekend. Nothing better to instill confidence in your GM, huh? Why teams even bother to call anymore is beyond me.
And we wonder why 9 years of futility continue...

Re:
The O's FO has the reputation as being unable to make decisions. We on the outside have no idea how much Angelos gums up the works, but you have to believe there is merit to the criticism. It's been said way to often by multiple sources, even to the point where people have stated that certain organizations won't even deal with the O's.

Crybabies
Gimme a break.
And I read today the Astros were upset Oswalt might "go to their cross state rivals", the Rangers.
SO WHAT?
Like, the Rangers aren't even in your division. So he'd be playing in the same state. Big fucking deal.
As for Angelos' vetoes: I'm not a fan of the man, but I have to say this: He vetoed the Burnett deal last year, and turned out to be dead right. And as far as this year is concerned, the only deal I heard about that I thought Tejada was worth was the Oswalt deal...and even that was not a no-brainer. If Angelos vetoed the lesser deals, then good for him. It does mean he needs a better FO if that's the case, because lesser deals should not have been given serious discussion.

Starting to wonder about national writers...
"The Orioles have rejected the Angels' seemingly compelling offer of top young pitcher Ervin Santana and shortstop prospect Erick Aybar for superstar shortstop Miguel Tejada, SI.com has learned. "
Is it really? We're giving up a multiple-time All-Star SS hitting .325 with power for a #2 (11-4 with a 4.25 ERA this year) and a single prospect (who is hitting .325 in AAA, but not with much power). Is it really THAT compelling, and from whom is Heyman taking his marching orders to label it so? Or am I just being greedy?
