Sorry people. Kakes is a weak sauce Nick-name (groan). If I thought he'd be back in the minors next year, I wouldn't care all that much. However, this guy doesn't even remotely resemble cake. Cake is soft and spongy, while Nick Markakis is tough and diligent. Would a cake work Schilling for a 9-pitch at bat?

Plus cake is bad for you. Markakis clearly is not. I've been rooting hard for the guy, but now that it looks like he's got a future on next year's team, we absultely MUST come up with a better nickname.
