D-backs in a ton of trades

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3155417

So, basically, the D-backs trade a bunch of prospects for Dan Haren (wow...he's really good, and they didn't trade any ML guys that i've heard of for him...bad or good for bedard trade?), and also trade Jose Valverde (overrated, but to Ed Wade, which makes sense) for a bunch of different guys.

Can I just say that I dunno who the D-backs gave up, but Dan Haren is gonna eat the NL West for breakfast. He gets to pitch against terrible lineups in San Fran, San Diego, and LA all the time. Even pitching in Phoenix and Coors won't hurt that too much. He was awesome in the good league. Now? Big money, and the quotes in the article show he knows it.

suddenly
bedard just got a hell of a lot more valuable.  all those nl teams are going to want to counter that haren trade by acquiring a nasty pitcher of their own.  patience on macphail's part allows him to get the absolute most value for bedard - smart.  now he's just going to play on teams' fears of being dominated by their opponents' pitching.

Specifically LAD
who I still feel are the best fit for us unless the Reds have a change of heart on Bruce, which seems doubtful.

i wonder...
if they'd be a good fit to take on luke scott, as well.  like, say: bedard plus scott for kemp, ethier, loney and [pitching prospect]
So, I said, uh, lama: how about a little something for the effort?

re
I don't think Kemp and Ethier will be involved in the same trade.  From past articles its seems LAD may want to move Kemp before Ethier but whichever one the keep will play RF.  Plus, I think (?) they would both be better than Scott.  I'm still drinking the Loney/Kemp kool-aid though.

re:
I don't know why everyone is so eager to flip Luke Scott. He's got a small window remaining, but he's still the second-best outfielder we have. It's not like we're going to lose 100 games next year because of Luke Scott in left field.

Thanks for the time that you've given me...

on the other hand
It seems doubtful he'll be around for a run at winning in 2010 or whatever.

why not?
He's going to be 30, I know, and his chances of being much of a player are slim. But tell me someone in the system you'd rather see. If he's a throw-in on a trade with Bedard or Roberts and it brings back an extra legit prospect or something like that, then great, trade him. But there's no reason to flip him otherwise -- he's not going to bring anything back in return that's worth having, most likely, and he's got a .534 career slugging percentage in the minors. If you ask me to pick a starting OF out of what we have right now, I'll take Markakis, Scott and oh god I don't even know a third guy.

Thanks for the time that you've given me...

you're right
And Jay Payton/Tike Redman in center gives me the willies.

I'm all for trading Scott but yeah I doubt he has much value right now by himself.  I've seen referred to as 4th outfielder quite a bit the last few days and he was largely platooned last year.  I'm hoping he could bump his trade value by starting strong next year and then move him before the July trading deadline.  But for now, he's our LF, Payton in CF, Markakis in RF.
