Tell me what you need
I am a CLEVELAND INDIANS fan and posted the following on LETSGOTRIBE.COM ...scan it a read the comments below.
Ok, I'll just throw out this trade proposal.
It's been mentioned before that the Tribe was at least considering Erik Bedard. My question is why not include Brian Roberts in the deal too. Too expense? Well not really, just listen to what we have to offer.
The Orioles have traded away their starting shortstop, and we may have one to offer that may have his highest trade value in years. His name is Jhonny Peralta. He is owed about $12 million between 2008-11. The bonus is AsCab can get his natural position back
Roberts is owed $14 million and change in the next two years. He is a career .281 batting average, and while he has limited power he stole 50 bases and scored 103 runs last year. His defense is also solid. In 2007 he had 7 errors and a .991 fielding percentage.
Bedard is arby eligible for the next 2 years and earned less than $4 million last year.
What would it take to get him? How about a package that included a shortstop, Peralta,a second baseman, Barfield (to replace Roberts), a ML ready OF, Ben Francisco, a prospect 1B/ OF Jordan Brown, and ML ready SP, Aaron Laffey or Adam Miller.
Still interested? I am.
Could it happen? Maybe. Will it? Probably not. Could it improve both teams? I think so.
I'd at least make a call.
MY QUESTION TO ORIOLES FANS...COUNTER MY OFFER. TELL ME WHAT YOUR TEAM NEEDS.

We need...
He had a fantastic 2005, don't get me wrong. But he hasn't shown any indication of repeating, much less sustaining, that success. Right now, his 2005 looks like a pretty significant anomaly.
OPS+
- 137
- 83
- 100
Barfield SUCKS. If we wanted a 54 OPS+ out of a 2B, we have Brandon Fahey.
Not sure who Francisco is; there are too many Franciscos on baseball-reference to narrow down.
I like Jordan Brown. I really like a .421 OBP in AA, even if he was age 23. Again, though...that is a huge leap over his other year in the minors.
Laffey doesn't impress me. Maybe a back of the rotation starter.
Sorry guy. Gonna have to do WAY better than that to get Bedard AND Roberts.
Ya'll got a pitcher named Fausto we could start the discussion with, though.

generally speaking...
i'd say w/ bedard and roberts the tribe/tigers would be quite an awesome battle royale over the next couple years.
