The Daniel Cabrera Renaissance is officially over, or at least on hiatus, a little over 2 weeks before the regular season even begins. Today Danny was back to his old tricks against the Marlins and put up a line of:

4.0 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR

A Spanish translator from Santo Domingo has informed me that Cabrera made comments in a Dominican newspaper yesterday saying he was going to be wild and erratic today, whilst serving up, high meaty pitches in the K Zone for Florida hitters (who he referred to as looking malnourished) to feast on, thus explaining today's premeditated lackluster outing.

But seriously, this should serve to hopefully temper our fresh green spring training optimism. Hey, better now than June 15th.

I would take 2 out of 3 outings throughout the season from D-Cab. Two dominant games to every one implosion. Sounds like an improvement to me. Also would win him nearly 20 games.

I jotted down the lineup, only to find out Jay Gibbons, who would have started in left field, was scratched because of an abdominal strain. He didn't think it was anything serious and said he could have played.

I Doubted Cabrera

had suddenly channeled Roy Oswalt's control, but if he walks four guys through every nine innings instead of six per nine, which is still not good control at all, he'll be a good pitcher because of his K-rate and low HR rate.

and still keep the ball in the Yard than to groove pitches for dingers.
And with his size and velocity the hitters are always wary of a guy like that

have made the comparison to randy johnson, so let me just say that in HIS 25-29 year old seasons, he walked no less than 96 dudes and walke dmore than 100 three times (including a high of 144).
