Rich Hill

Since it is a slow day I thought I would ask what you guys think about the Cubs youngster Rich Hill? This isn't a trade question or anything but my friend and I were discussing young pitchers at lunch and his name was brought up. I know what the box scores say but haven't really been able to watch him play that much.

Don't know a lot about him

but his numbers that last few starts have been pretty damn good.

He's a Beast

Hill is phenominal. He's got a curveball most scouts and analysts say is much better than Barry Zito's and his fastball is very good for a lefty as it sits in the low-90s and can get up to 93-94mph. In the minors he was noted for his lack of control and supposedly the only thing holding him back was his ability to keep the ball in the strikezone.

Last season with the Cubs he was able to walk just 3.5 hitters per 9 and so far this season that number is 3.2.

He's easily one of the best young starters in the game. Look at his hits & strikeouts for a feel for his stuff. He strikes out more hitters than hits allowed, which is a testament to his raw "stuff".

In short, he's a stud.The only real knock on him I suppose is that he's already 27yrs old and this is his first full season. Then again, he's a lefty with a fantastic curve. He'll probably be in the league until he's 45!
