Not a good sign for the rebuilding

Hoey and Doyne, down.  Shuey and Bell, up.

If this team is committed to rebuilding, giving up on young pitchers after one game (albeit a bad one) is not smart.

This fuckin' team isn't worth 300 characters.

I'll tell you how naive I am
I saw that on Roch's blog, and thought it was funny he didn't mention which two underperforming vets were sent down or DFA'd. It never crossed my mind they'd be dumb enough to send those two down just days after they were called up. Did Doyne even get into a game?

Yeah
He pitched in the ninth on Saturday after Hoey had already screwed it up beyond any hope for a comeback.

Hoey was TERRIBLE on Saturday.  No command at all. Still, give him some chances.  What do they have to lose?

I'm still hoping like hell that they'll blow this up, it sounds like MacPhail's not even been officially announced as being hired, but this still seems like a typical shortsighted Oriole move.

Bell, okay
But Shuey?  WTF for?  Dude is sporting a 4.70 ERA in Norfolk.  I could see sending Hoey down and calling up Bell.  But this is plain old stupid...as usual.

second that
weird move overall.  i wonder if mcphail is responsible for this call.

I seriously doubt it
with the move he's making on Girardi, I seriously doubt he's had time to digest all the ERA of our AAA relief pitchers.

re:
Hoey was rushed last year, and the O's said they did not want to rush him this year. Maybe it is time to see if Bell has anything. Just grasping here.

Given that the team is likely to be a pretty sour place for a spell, maybe it's good to keep Hoey away. He need not be exposed to the aftershocks in the clubhouse. Hopefully the palyers will decide to grow up a bit and Hoey can come up later and join the adults.

There is plenty of time to bring him up.

This is a good point.
It's a good idea to retain the illusion in your young farm talent that the Major League parent club is a place you want to be.  Not a place you contemplate suicide over being contractually bound to.

also
Maybe Shuey and Bell will prove tradable. They could be hoping for some decent (read: totally average and unlikely to succeed) prospects if they can unload them to a team (like the Mets) that needs bullpen help.

Good points
I'll turn off my panic alarm.

Shuey looks like he'd come up and try to push Jamie Walker around and get punched in the nose.
