Peter Schmuck: Hack or Douchebag?
Anyone get a chance to read Schmucks latest? It seems that the O's fate is tied to hated Yankees because Joe G. didn't want to manage the club. He cites several other examples of how the "fortunes of these two franchises have been intertwined for decades", including the Tippy, Dempsey trade in the late 70s, to the Joey Belle signing, to the Lee Mazzilli phase. But in true hack fashion, he didn't mention the two most important ways these clubs are intertwined:
- 1903 - Baltimore Orioles move to New York, becoming the New York Highlanders, to be renamed the Yankees in 1913.
- Jeffrey Maier

Schmuck is a...
I don't have too much ill-will towards Maier. It wasn't his fault the umpires blew the call, or that stadium management didn't eject him, or that the New York press canonized him some sort of Yankee saint; no, these are all reasons to HATE THE GODDAMN YANKEES. Which I really, really do. In the most irrational way.
schmuck = douchebag
As for Maier, my scorn is reserved for Richie Garcia, not some 12 year old kid who was acting like a 12 year old kid.
