Keith Law is doing a marathon chat over at espn.com. A few interesting O's tidbits. He seems pretty optimistic about the Traschel market.
DC (DC): There's a crowd for Steve Trachsel? What could the O's get for him... anything more than a B level prospect?
Keith Law: (2:48 PM ET ) Might get a second guy in that deal as well. There really is a line forming at the starting pitcher store, even though their shelves are about as bare as those of a supermarket in Moscow in 1976.
Karl, Baltimore: Some people still care about the Orioles.... and they are wondering about Garrett Olson... and even Tim Bascom... did the O's get a steal in the 4th round?
Keith Law: (1:54 PM ET ) Bascom had a knee problem, which is why his contract was voided the year before. He's a possible 5th starter. Olson's good, a potential mid-rotation guy, probably only 170-180 innings but with a low ERA due to his plus control.
Chris, Springfield, VA: Keith, thanks for chatting, love them. Have you heard anything about the Orioles' pursuit of signing Matt Wieters, and do you think they actually will? I haven't herd much lately, and it seems like many other picks have already signed.
Keith Law: (1:08 PM ET ) He's another Boras guy, so I think he gets done in early August. No one wants to be the first team to sign an above-slot deal in the first round (thus incurring the wrath of the Commissoner's office), but the logjam always breaks at some point, generally when the deadline approaches.
