How high will the O's go?
In spite of many free agents the O's have 69 mil in guaranteed contracts for next year plus arbitration cases and renewals. Not to mention possible club options. I'm counting Millar in the 69 mil because he only needs 475 plate appearances for his 2.75 mil option to kick in. The main problems are the raises due for Huff:4mil to 8mil,Walker 3mil-4.5mil,Bradford 3mil-3.5mil,Baez 4mil-4.5mil,Hernandez 6.5mil-7.5mil and Mora from 7.758mil to 8.25mil. With arbitration and renewals of Loewen,Markakis and Guthrie that should bring the total to 73-75 mil. That leaves the O's 20 mil to play with to equal this years payroll. Does anyone expect Angelos to up it? Or subtract Tejada's 13mil from next year? Let's hope so but I won't hold my breath. If we can unload Tejada and bring back 2 young players now the O's could have 30 mil to spend on CF,1B and 1SP. I would expect a young SS to be part of any deal and maybe a SP or 1B which would give us even more to spend on CF and maybe LF.
