We should have an offensive outburst today against a very bad pitcher. Berard could use the support with the way the bullpen is pitching. Looks like in the offseason we will have to have another bullpen "makeover"!

Not sure who you follow
but after Ironhead passed on, now I've become a Carl Edwards fan.  The only thing I don't like is the backflip, but I'm guessing that after a few more years his back will be too sore to do it.

Gotta love someone with dirt track roots.

How about you?

by goonybananas on Jul 7, 2007 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually, I'm kinda a free agent fan
I was a Kurt Busch fan until he switched to a beer car. I liked John Deere, and he took over that ride. Then he became the biggest jerk on the circuit, and I liked that, too - who ELSE is a Kurt Busch fan, right? Then he won the championship, so what's not to like? He wasn't a whiny bitch like Matt Kenseth, and he'd call out his own crew when they screwed up. You don't see that often. He also would take the blame himself when he screwed up, unlike aforementioned whiny bitch Matt Kenseth.

But then he switched to a beer car, and I can't wear his stuff or bring diecasts to my job as a HS teacher, so I'm kinda a free agent. Part of me wants to go with Tony Stewart, part of me Jeff Gordon (soley because my dad worked at Dupont, btw), but mostly, I'm waiting to see if Junior signs with a non-beer sponsor for next year.

Probably WAY more than you wanted to know...

I'm ont a big Stewart fan, since he's
such a crybaby.  But, it was nice to see that he just decided to take out his teammate while he was leading...at lap 16.  I'm sure he'll blame it on Hamlin after the race...

Odd fact: my cousin is the jackman for Sterling Marlin's team (Ginn racing #14).

THAT'S the reason I can't be a Tony fan. He just drove right into the back of him!

Thx. As to his ace-iosity...
you'd know better. I ask b/c I got the impression during the year I was teaching in VT (1999-'00) that there'd been exactly nobody from the state since Calvin Coolidge who'd made a name for himself in the rest of the country-- except for some NASCAR guy, an identification which (of course) didn't mean jack to me.

I love NASCAR. It starts so many fights.

I hear rumor Junior's car could be Nike-sponsored, which, you know, why not? Nike's empire has overtaken everything else. Unfortunately they'd need a better driver. You know, one who ever wins a damn thing.

When I say understand, I don't mean
how many drivers/teams/sponsors do you know.  What I mean is that if you understand all aspects (like the engineering, physics, math, etc.) of designing and fabricating the cars as well as the factors that drivers have to face, pit strategy, etc. then you clearly don't think it's a "go fast, turn left" situation.

Again, I'm not trying to be a d-bag (like some of the people who are shitting on racing), just saying that I've never met a person who is a "car-guy/gal" that didn't get into Nascar after actually giving it a chance.

With that being said, what is up with Gibbons actually hitting every now and then?

I think it's when you wade into a
river/body of water and sticking your hand into holes in the mud, under trees, etc. - when the catfish bites your hand, you grab it and drag it out.  I could be wrong, but I think I've seen this on the discovery channel.

As long as he continues to pitch like that
I don't care who he talks to or doesn't talk to. But it has to be frustrating for people who write about him for a living. Palmer did say he won't get away without talking to them in the clubhouse after a performance like that.

Whatever. Bedard can do no wrong tonight. I'd just hate to see a gem like this get soured by more gripes from Roch and his buddies about how Bedard disses them.

Fuck Roch and his Buddies
People have a whole hell of a lot more options than those bozos these days.

At least he's consistent
Let's see how much Roch bitches about it on his blog tomorrow.

Hey, I thought Trembley said he talked to him and it wouldn't happen again. So much for THAT.

We'll see
I think what Palmer meant was Bedard requested not to be interviewed by Viviano right off the field. Maybe he'll give them some attention later.

wow
My family was watching the race today, so i didn't watch the game.

I guess that's what I get for skipping a Buhdard start.

BTW
Hell of a finish to the Daytona race.

yeah, that was pretty thrilling
and I'm not a huge NASCAR guy generally.

Oh Christ
Look who's biting off of us.  How long have we been saying Bedarded around here now?

by Jonnypops on Jul 7, 2007 11:24 PM EDT reply actions

Actually
I don't remember that term at all.

uh
So the worse part is what Roch said about the stats for this guy Hernandez.

Boob Boom gets hurt and they call up someone worse while House walks.

Bedard's weird
He talked after Chi but not tonight? None of us care if he talks but it's important if other guys in the clubhouse say "Hey we've got to answer questions why doesn't that prima donna? I'm not going to bust my ass for him" As long as Bedard talks after losses and not wins then it shouldn't be a problem.

Erik doesn't talk PERIOD
Win, lose, perfect game, you ain't gettin' NUTHIN' out of Bedard after a game.

And for the record
I couldn't care less. As long as he's consitent - don't talk ever, not just after losses - I couldn't care less. His job is to win games for the O's, not make Roch's job easier. If he went the prima donna route and only talked after wins, I'd have a problem with that, but if he never wanst to talk, who cares?

Demper's an idiot.
He was talking about watching Kerry Wood strike out 20, and said "The catcher had a opportunity to sdrop a picth and let it go to the wall so he could strike out 21, but he didn't do it."

WTF?????? He only won the game 2-0 and Demper wants to bring up the TYING run so Wood can beat a record?
