For me, there is no better example of the difference between seeing a game at Memorial Stadium and seeing at game at Camden Yards than Wild Bill Hagy. I never was really crazy about Hagy's act, but I loved the atmosphere that that created that act. Memorial Stadium was great because there were still a bunch of working stiffs who showed up because they loved the Orioles, loved watching the games, and wanted to cheer the Orioles team on as loudly as possible. Wild Bill was typical of the kind of fan that existed back then who would go to most of the O's home games, but weren't season ticket holders with nice seats. Like him, they would sit in the cheap seats in the upper deck, got good and drunk, and work up the fans and turn Memorial Stadium into the "World Largest Outdoor Insane Asylum."
[Ed note: Very sad news. The Orioles announced that a moment of silence will be held in Hagy's honor before tonight's Rangers game. -zk]
