I commented on this in the gameday thread but I am actually rooting for whoever is playing the Orioles. After 10 consecutive losing seasons, and 24 without a championship, this club really has nothing at all to lose. After watching the worst bullpen I have ever witnessed, I wish that the front office would just send all of them down, because anyone is better than these losers.
The horrendus run support that this club has is also over shadowed because of the horrendus pitching in the 7th inning on. Quick stat: In the last 8 games the bullpen has allowed 51 runs in the 7th inning on. You can be decieved by names like Tejada, Millar, Huff, and Patterson. For example, Corey is batting .276 and is very fast, looks good right? Too bad his OBP is .311. Now how the fuck can you have that bad an eye at the major league level as a veteran. No wonder his batting average is looming around respectable, he swings at everything that crosses the plate.
On the matter of Dave Trembley, everyone here, and folks in Baltimore included, were all for Trembley when we took 2 of 3 from both the Yanks and the Socks, hes bringing us back to .500! Well guess what, we promoted the bullpen coach who was the "motivator" of those chumps in there and I don't see any fire in him because every time he leaves the dugout, which has been 3 times in total, he has a polite conversation with the umpire and then has a relaxing jog back to the bench. But I still read bullshit reports about how he is really getting the team fired up, k thanks. I don't know if its just me, but promoting a coach from within as interim manager, and then giving him an extension kind of reminds me of another man, name started with a Sammy and ended with Perlozzo.
The Baltimore Orioles do not need to replace their staff from within, or buy over the hump, one time wonders during the offseason, they need to completly clean house. This team is so bad that taking three losing seasons with young guys will be no diffrent than taking three losing seasons with guys in their 30's leeching money from the organization. Bottom line is, we can love Millar all we want, but like every player on this team minus Bedard, Roberts, and Markakis, he is not doing anything for our club and we are farther away from contention, let alone a world title, every year that we have these guys on the team. It is no coincidence that last year the teams that boasted 5 of the top 6 bullpen made the playoffs. Pitching and defense right? We have the number one statistical defense in the AL and a pretty good starting rotation. Hows that working out for us?
