It looks like the O's are on their way to one of their worst finishes ever. It probably isn't Dave Trembley's fault, but on a normal teams there is a good bet he would get the axe. Then again, on a normal team there is a good chance he wouldn't be signed to an extension a few months after taking over the team as interim manager. What are the Orioles going to do? Does Trembley get to start next season with a clean slate or does he get the axe if the slide continues into next year?
Personally, I sort of like the idea of the Orioles being perpetually run by interim managers. Every year they could fire their manager around the all star break and promote someone else who would be fired around the next all star break. It could be yet another way Angelos tries to alter the paradigm for a professional sports franchise.
