Seeing as the Orioles and the Ravens were both atrocious this year, the Washington Wizards have provided a glimmer of hope as they continue their spectacular play without, arguably, the most clutch performer in the NBA. Culminating in their win last night against the league leading Boston Celtics at the phone booth, the Wizards have fought very hard, blowing out the teams they are supposed to beat and hanging in there with the tougher ball clubs.
Antwan Jamison and Caron Butler are going to get robbed this year, both are pretty much averaging double doubles and we will be lucky if one manages to get the nod to go to New Orleans this year. Gilbert was originally supposed to come back in March, but as stated in his highly publicized blog he may end up missing the entire season. The Wizards are an exciting team because of the potential they have, especially because they won a game last night where you would think they would have needed a prime time performer like Arenas. Eddie Jordan continues to push the right buttons and this team can go nowhere but up as I believe Gilbert will be back in time for the playoff run, giving this team that much more of an edge. If nothing else, the Wizards have been the only local sports team worth watching in recent years, as the Ravens had one up year amidst a few bad ones, the Orioles are the Orioles, and Maryland basketball has been less than thrilling.
