M's Blogger Dreams of D-Cab?!

Prospect Insider is suggesting the Mariners trade for young starting pitching, of course, and have suggested that Bedard may cost them too much. Their argument hinges on their belief, and most of baseball, that Adam Jones is going to be amazing and shouldn't be traded. So, they should go after some other young guys, among them Daniel Cabrera.

Here's their estimation on Cabrera: "Baltimore isn't shopping the big right-hander, but any assortment of young talent that fills holes for the O's up the middle would probably pry him away from McPhail."

"Any assortment" doesn't sound like the best offer, friend. MacPhail's not going to trade Cabrera, a guy everybody, apparently, is drooling over for a bag of junk or veterans.

As well, while I would love to get rid of Cabrera, it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense at this point. He's under contract longer than Bedard, and he still has "potential"...or whatever the Front Office has been rambling about the past few seasons.

Unless they're able to package Bedard and Cabrera for a package of five top prospects and a minor leaguer or two, two of those prospects being Morrow and Jones, I don't see Daniel Cabrera going anywhere.
