the duck memorial off-topic washington capitals thread
so, like, the caps are sort of a chic choice for the stanley cup? granted, they have the reigning mvp and coach of the year, but it's kind of crazy to hear that. i mean, i can think of a couple seasons where they made splashy trades and free agent signings, but it's cool to see a team assembled like this one w/ a sort of trembley-esque/zorn-y coach.
what is it w/ dc-b'more teams and their jobber coaches anymore?

The Capitals are to the NHL as the Rays were to ______. (2 points)
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Someone offered me Caps tickets for Saturday night
and I turned them down. There’s postseason baseball on tv in HD, for chrissakes!

I'd have taken them.
You’ve GOT to see Ovie live. The game literally changes when he’s on the ice.

Would you sing some Roxette?

If they trade him
that franchise will be dead to me. Dead. Its mere existence wiped from my brain. Dead to me.
Fredo, you’re nothing to me now. You’re not a brother, you’re not a friend. I don’t want to know you or what you do. I don’t want to see you at the hotels, I don’t want you near my house. When you see our mother, I want to know a day in advance, so I won’t be there. You understand?
And you SERIOUSLY don’t want me to sing. There’s a reason I play guitar at church. So I don’t have to sing.

I find myself questioning George McPhee
way too much. Defenseman Karl Alzner will not start the season with the team, which to me is about the equivalent of the Orioles not calling up Matt Wieters ever next year. Alzner is about as NHL ready as a young defenseman will get and they are basically saying “no, we prefer the relatively limited skills of a Shaone Morrisonn over a guy who when on the ice, no scoring chances happen for the other team and could seriously bully some of the small, European forwards that the southeast division is littered with.” He’s at least better than John Erskine. Yeah, I pretty much already have a huge crush on Karl Alzner.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
