Playoffs Open Thread: CWS @ TAM, MIL (0) @ PHI (1), LAD (1) @ CHC (0)
Time for more of the postseason enjoyment! Hooray! All games remain on TBS, where we'll be snowed with FrankTV ads and Cal's shiny dome glistening in the studio light next to Eckersley's moustache.

I was going to pull for the Phillies
but then I saw that horrible thing on Myers’ face. What is that?
I have to go with the Fat Man from Milwaukee now.

Hopefully, CC can finally forget the disasterous postseason of 2007 and continue his 2008 domination.

Well, Longoria just went yard
His $45MM contract looks like a bargain right now

Longoria homers again
What a monster. Even in the playoffs, the Trop still doesn’t give off any kind of playoff atmosphere; probably because it’s a bunch of 60 year olds in Hawaiian shirts.

The cheerleaders
On top of the dugout probably assisted in handing out extras. I see virtually no one in the lower level with any semblance of Rays gear on.
It’s understandable though, why would that franchise have any kind of fan base after their decade of futility. Glad we’ve never had to endure anything like that.

They really need to stop pretending it’s any special kind of loud in there like I’ve never seen a playoff game before, or one in a dome.

Sabathia looks tired already
I mean come on, he’s gotta be. He’s not superhuman. He’s fat.

This is pretty awesome how they’re exploding for every foul ball and ball taken by Myers.

True that
Kinda unfortunate that he pitches out of his knickers for a few months and then lays an egg when it counts. He is the A-Rod of pitchers, I guess.

So, maybe the Cubs would like Brian Roberts right now.
I bet he could have gotten at least one out on that ground ball earlier.

Wanna bet on the Rayz going to the Series without selling out the venue? Only 35 K at The Trop yesterday...
Yeesh, people are still pissed about March, I guess. Oh, and the crappy sight lines, adult-correctional-facility cement-block background and the rug that looks like you had your high school friends over despite specific parental warnings about partying while they’re away.

It was a sellout according to the radio
The announcers said they lost some seats to the press(?)

For some reason my reply posted three times. I deleted the bottom two, but there wasn’t anything attached to either one. That’s bizarre.

Here is what they said at DRaysBay
I asked because I thought 35K seemed like a low total for a sellout
Capacity is 36K and change. They blocked out two sections of the outfield upper deck for press.
There are sections of obstructed views in the upper decks
They won’t remove the covers of those seats until the WS if the Rays get there. If that happens the capacity becomes something like 43-44K I think

Yeah, I actually replied to the threesome, in my jocular way: "I believe you. I believe you. I believe you."
But even though the reply is still there in my archive thingy, nothing comes up when you click it. So somehow You Killed Kenny!
Anyway, the short version: What kind of MLB franchise has a 35 (or 36) K max seat cap? A crummy one. Here’s hoping this year’s success will lead the TB area powers-that-be (all three constituencies) to get together on a new stadium package— which the team deserves and the fans might be more inclined to visit.
I don’t give a rat’s *ss about the Marlins, but I’d really like to see TB succeed as a franchise.
