Unbiased Postseason Recap: Day Sixteen
I missed day fifteen, and I don't have much else to say about tonight's game than the following:
1. What a game.
2. What a series.
3. What a couple of great teams, and the better team won in the end.
Congratulations, Rays, and thanks for a great series, Red Sox.

This just in: Momentum, Playoff Experience Come Home to Roost
Yes, overcome by Big Mo and panicked by their self-administered psychological drubbing, the Tampa Bay Rayz today proved that…that…well, that that’s all a crock, ain’t it?
Congrats to the World Champion Rayz, who clearly deserved to win. I’m particularly happy for my Uncle Bill, who is 91, lives in SPb and has been waiting the life of the franchise for a winning season— and got this! It’s especially sweet since he’s had to take guff for years on the Titov family blog from the Sawx fenz among us (yes, PHN can strike anywhere). I hope Bill sends something dignified to all of them today, along the lines of Har-har, Massholes! Hey, the family that slanders together, meanders together. Or something.
It’s sort of a shame we now have to watch the Pretend World Series— and by doing so acquiesce in the farcically imposed “parity” of MLB’s two leagues. C’mon, Bud, an interleague playoff system is only the logical thing to do. I mean, after imposing the same rules for the whole of the game, duh. But then, nobody ever accused PC Bud of being a running dog lackey of the logic mongers.
Here’s to the Tampa Bay Rays, 2008 World Champs. Or as Vanya and Nika put it, Molodtsy, molodtsy, molodtsy!

Cool! Very Berra-hugs-Larsen, '56 Series.

This from Draysbay
I sold 3 tickets last night for $8 total. You couldn’t give the tickets away yesterday. I was actually embarassed. I actually got the tickets because someone wanted to go to the game and just threw them on the ground (he couldnt’ sell them). I was lucky enough to be able to sell 3 of them for a total of $8.
Point being just go to the game and you should be able to get tickets.
A Sheriffs Officer got me 3 tickets for free. I was planning on just watching at home and he called me and said someone walking into the game had 3 extras and couldnt get rid of them, so he just handed to him, hoping he could find someone.
A friend of mine had 4 extras he couldn’t get rid of at face value. I agree with the Debbie Downer post below that a bunch of the bastards in this area gave up on this team on Sunday. I’m just glad I was there in person to watch all of those a-hole Boston fans have to eat their "f*ck sandwiches".
That is why I’m a bit skeptical. Now go ahead and bash me and then proceed to tell me how the Rays have true fans.

i thought the games sold out?
And the Rays are even opening up new seats for the WS to accomodate demand. Or did fans simply assume that they would lose on Sunday which depressed tickets sales.

I don't get it either. The official total was over 40 K, which is at least 4 K beyond capacity. OK, alleged capacity.

From what I've gathered on draysbay
A lot of people who wanted tickets were unable to get them through the lottery system, even if they did get an email with the password to buy the tickets. Either their systems were too slow or they got there too late. And they only place they heard that they could get tickets if not through the box office was Stub Hub, where the prices were extremely jacked up so a lot of people either paid through the nose or said screw it, that’s highway robbery. So people either stayed home because of the price or if they went to the stadium they already had tickets, which is why they couldn’t sell them (if they were trying to sell them at the park, which the 2nd story doesn’t sound like though the 1st and 3rd could be).
I’m not sure of what’s going on, really. For one thing, last night’s game was totally packed. I didn’t see any empty seats. So it would seem that most of these people who “couldn’t give them away” found people to take them.
It’s weird all around. I know that if the O’s were in the playoffs I’d probably just pay the ridiculous amounts on Stub Hub to go, because that’s how crazy excited I’d be. Plus if I had tickets to the game and saw people selling them for a reasonable price outside the stadium, I’d buy them and call my friends who didn’t have tickets. I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to go.

That's a good summary
But I just feel like if the O’s made the playoff, the tickets would be sold out for the divisional series an hour or so after they went up. I fully understand that Tampa is still building its fanbase, but something just feel missing with that team. I don’t know, but it just doesn’t feel like the fans have been dying for this one shot. I guess I just juxtapose too many things to the Cubbies.

I don't know about
fans dying for just one shot. It’s hard to say what’s going there. But the extra postseason tickets seemingly just lying around IS bizarre.

After the debacle that was game five -
(Which I stayed up and watched, at my friends house, and had to drive forty minutes home feeling like shit)
- I didn’t log on to any sports pages or watch any sports tv for the entire weekend. Hell, I didn’t even watch game seven – I listened to it on the radio. I just couldn’t handle seeing the Red Sox celebrate on field.
Thankfully the Rays won and I watched all the highlights online today!
