World Series thread, conclusion of game 5: Tampa Bay (1) @ Philadelphia (3)
It's the bottom of the 6th, game tied 2-2. Grant Balfour is still on the mound for the Rays and Geoff Jenkins is the PH for Cole Hamels. It seems like it's been forever since we saw some WS baseball for some reason.

It's going to be a long season for the Wiz
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

I'm going to the game on Dec 5th vs the Lakers
my first ever NBA game. I’m excited. Are they gonna get their asses kicked?

Yeah
I mean they’re not terrible, but it’s just such a sad story. They are the NBA equivalent of the Rangers, all offense, very little defense. To their credit, they have improved defensively, but it’s hard to compete when your all-world shooting guard is injured for three consecutive years. They’ve patched it together the past two seasons and reached the playoffs, but the wheels look like they may finally come off his season. To be sure, they’ll be in the hunt when Gilbert returns, but it’s hard to get in sync going into the playoffs when your $110+ million dollar player only has a month to get back in rhythm. The Lakers are very good, though, and should be able to take care of the Wiz in a fun game; I wouldn’t be shocked if Washington beats them at home, however.

Those were the stories I've heard
I know the one specific story I passed on happened in the 2007 season, so maybe he’s gotten it out of his system. Or maybe he’ll just be like most pro athletes and cheat.

Markakis engaged in contract talks with the club during the season, but the two sides didn’t come close to reaching agreement. But Markakis, who got married last week and is planning on making Baltimore his year-round home, is interested in discussing a long-term deal, as are the Orioles.

Seriously, y'all
If the O’s ever win the WS I’ll be crying my eyes out like a lunatic. I don’t even care about the Phillies and I’m emotional!
oh and Brad Lidge thanks Jesus Christ. Somewhere, Luke Scott is looking on approvingly.

More than ever, I root for the speedy death of peter angelos.

I am not
I haven’t been home since July, and I haven’t lived there since ’05.
I wish I were there though…but I did find a killer Philles/Eagles bar out here (I am stuck in LA for a few years)
