SI's Top 50 Free Agents
Look at Jon Garland. A 4.9 ERA and 1.5 WHIP would make him the number 2 starter. I can't believe he ended up 2 spots below Kevin Millar on this list. All in favor of taking the 29 year old mediocre starting pitcher over the 37 year old terrible 1st baseman please raise your hands.

SI doesnt have the O's picking up a single top 50 F.A.
That might be a good thing actually, but still… i guess i wouldnt be surprised if the O’s lose out on everyone they try to get. Seems to be the norm really.

that may very well happen
I also think the top 50 list was a bit oddly constructed.
Of course the Elias ratings are a bit silly as well.

SI really can't make predictions.
1. There is no way the Dodgers have payroll room with Jones, Pierre, and Schmidt on the books to sign CC, Manny, AND Furcal.
2. The A’s don’t need Pudge
3. Kerry Wood to the Cardinals? LMFAO.
4. The Cardinals aren’t picking up Garland, when they just signed Lohse.
5. Pedro to the LOLNationals?
6. Millar to the Red Sox would be entertaining.

If MILLAHHHH went back to the SAWX
he’d be a happy little boy. I can almost imagine it now, him coming up to bat to “Glory Days”

jon garland?
Why? I would really like to see how all of our pitching prospects develop next year and I would hate to see them blocked by Jon Garland. Having said that, he’s way better than Kevin Millar.
I’d love to get Teixeira of course, but I know that if we do that the rebuilding has effectively ended.

Figure this
Sign Garland. Then you don’t have to keep Cabrera, and if you can find a third pitching prospect that has any business going to the majors, you can cut Cabrera.
I’m just looking at trying to get a starting rotation that can actually visit the fifth inning on a regular basis. I understand it doesn’t do much for the future of the team, but it would be nice not to make our bullpens arms fall off.

Orlando Cabrera

Key cog! Top of the order sparkplug!
