O's reaching far and wide for pitching, keeping an eye on 3 arms from Japan
It's nice to see this is finally happening. I'd like to see the O's get a few Asian players simply to get their foot in the door. Sounds like they have no chance for the 22 year old, but the others could be interesting.

Lets hope this is real
At this point, the Front Office has had a talent scout in Asia for a year. If they’re ready to sign a guy from Japan this season, great, but something tells me they’re not ready yet. A year isn’t a long time when scouting. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a PR stunt to prove the team was committed to scouting in Japan instead of an actual signing.
Next offseason, sure, I’d believe it, but not this soon.
this team will go anywhere to find a starting pitcher. The two older pitchers are probably not going to be that expensive, and since they cost zero draft picks are exactly the kind of players the Orioles are looking for. Scouting is less difficult when you have a ton of data in an established league.
koji...
could be a bargain for two guaranteed w/ an option.

This is the guy
I keep seeing linked the most to the O’s. Below is a pretty informative link on him.
No mention of Darvish
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver
He hasn't been/isn't going to be posted.
So there’s no reason to talk about a guy that you can’t get, you know.

You speak with such conviction
Don’t be so sure.

Darvish
was recently quoted in the press as saying that he wants to win 200 games in Japan, and since he’s at 40-something, he’ll be there for awhile.
And yes, I do know he may have just been saying the “right thing” (or bullshitting)
"This world extends way beyond this little field of dreams we're dancing in and I want to see that world"
Tazawa (the 22 year old)
Apparently the Japanese teams are pissed that he’s jumping straight to MLB, and some MLB teams are deliberately avoiding him for the sake of keeping relations smooth with NPB. So it’s probably just as well that the O’s don’t have a realistic shot of signing him, I suppose.
apparently...
there’s been a sort of a longstanding gentleman’s agreement b/w mlb and npb, but some teams are willing to overlook that b/c tazawa is seen as nearly on par w/ matsuzaka (though, yu darvish apparently is the golden goose).
