The Cubs were frustrated by the Padres' attempts to seek five or six players for Peavy with one team executive saying, "They're looking for a Herschel Walker-type deal."

So, NO PIE FOR YOU!

Good

I’m not big on either one, but I’ll keep Olson over Pie. Olson could actually have some value in the bullpen, I don’t see anything of value in Pie.

Patience grasshopper

I think we can get Pie and keep Olsen if we give the Cubs a prospect they can option or agree to take Marquis or work both together.

Just have to wait.

Let me ask a theoretical-would you trade D.Hernandez or Brandon Erbe for Pie or Pie and Marquis plus 5 million? If not those two, which prospects would you move out of the top 20?

I don’t think Pie is really worth anything, so no, I wouldn’t trade Erbe or Hernandez.

Pie has horrible numbers in the ML, and his adequate at best minor league numbers were put up in the PCL. I think at best he could be a AAAA player. Not only don’t I want to trade for him, I don’t want him taking a spot on the 40 man.

5-for-1

“A Herschel Walker-type deal”? Sounds like an “Erik Bedard-type deal” to me.

Too late, Padres.

Peavy needs to give Towers

more options. Then he can engage a few more teams and maybe the Cubs will be a little more intent.
Once the Braves lose Burnett they are really looking at Lowe and Sheets. If Burnett signs with NY that is bad news for Lowe because the Mets claim they cant sign him and I dont know if I see Boston giving Lowe that big of a deal esp if they sign Tex and I am not sure Atlanta is that high on Lowe.

I bet Atlanta would really love Sheets who has basically bitch slapped Atlanta his entire career and feels like he might be a better bet at two years then Lowe at four.

So I can see the Braves revisiting Peavy out of need, the Cubs and I still think the Angels, Boston and the Yanks could get in if Peavy just opens the door a bit. At some point soon I bet Peavy will.
