Daniel Cabrera non-tendered, hopefully gone, and I can't help myself
My feelings in song:
Career ERA: 5.05
Career WHIP: 1.55
Career BB/9: 5.1
Have fun, whatever team decides to hitch a star to this crap wagon.
So long, sucker!

I love the song. It certainly is a beautiful morning now that D Cab is no longer an Oriole. Come to think of it I actually slept pretty well last night just knowing that I will never have to worry about whether Good Danny or Bad Danny is going to show up and pitch again.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh...
p.s. Nothing wrong with our pitching staff that, oh, $240 million wouldn’t cure.
All right, $300 million— but that’s my final offer.

I just hope
that no AL East team signs him (Roch seems to think the Jays want to) because I guarantee the following will happen:
He will come to pitch a game at Camden Yards, get booed horribly, start to lose it, and throw at the heads of one of the following:
Nick
B-Rob
Wieters
Adam Bomb
Of course, then we might actually see the crowd storm the field and carry him off to a dark fate.

Say what you want about Daniel...
but understand that the man had the most heart out of ANYONE on this team. When another team was bullying the hapless O’s, who did we call on to stand up for us…that’s right, DANIEL!!
When all of the O’s starters gave up toward the end of the last few seasons, who was the only pitcher to tough it out and actually pitch the full season…that’s right, DANIEL!!
No other player on the Orioles was more willing to go to war for this organization, so before you trash him for his inconsistencies and lack of baseball knowledge, remember this-Daniel actually gave a fuck about this team…which is way more than I can say for much of the rest of the fucking roster (recall Aubrey Huff last year).

I'm sorry but
What about 2008 Aubrey Huff indicates he doesn’t care about this team?
You know what? I care about this team and give a fuck about this team to probably and unhealthy level. That sure as hell doesn’t mean I should be out there playing for them.
And he lasted through to the end of the season? Should we give him an award for not getting injured? Or are you just throwing Guts under the bus?
I really liked Daniel in his day and I held out hope for him for a long time. But he doesn’t deserve to be on this team no matter how much he cares or how hard he tries. Where the F is duck with that vitamins comment?

here's what I want to say about Daniel
He’s a hack that had fits and threw at players when the he was getting lit up. He melted down on countless occasions and put the team in no position to win. But yippy shit, he threw at guys, like that totally radical time he headhunted Dustin Pedroia, which was about the least manly thing possible. I hope this bum never puts on an Orioles uniform again.
But then I’m among his biggest detractors, so take it as you will.

It had to be because he is not worth $4 million or so
That was the number I heard for an arbitration figure.
I still like D-Cabs if only because he was pretty much the only reason I bothered to watch the crap teams of late 2005 and 2006. Yeah, Bedard was the ace, but D-Cabs brought a little bit of excitement to an otherwise dreary team. While surrounded by guys who had mailed it in by the second half of the season, I never thought D-Cabs was dogging it. I always liked that, except for those times he lost a little control of his temper, which was even more detrimental to his already bad pitching.
I gave up on him after 2006, while the O’s hung on for another two years. He may be back, it will be interesting to see if anyone takes a flyer on him.

Let me clear the air folks...
my comment on Daniel was simply a reaction to the overwhelming negativity displayed for him on this site. I agree with the criticism…he did not get results and certainly is not worth 4 million dollars (or 4 thousand for that matter!!). But why the need to trash the guy so much?? That is one of the primary problems in the world these days, we are all very quick to point out the faults of other people, when clearly no one is perfect. I felt that Dan at least deserved one supporter.
Stacey, in regards to Aubrey Huff, apparently you forgot the careless way he trashed the city and organization over last off season. He clearly has some disdain for the team.
Pipkin, Kevin Millar may have cared, but his results were not much better than Daniel’s now were they. Yet, I don’t see entire fan threads dedicated to the shitting on of the former Red Sox great…you may have forgotten about that first pitch, but not I.

Ugh
Please show me one quote by Aubrey Huff trashing the Baltimore Orioles. He made one ill advised comment about Baltimore City’s nightlife and I was pissed when it happened. But you know what got me to start liking him again (besides his obvious remorse)? He was the best fucking hitter on the team last year.
The only thing that can possibly be construed on this site as “overwhelming negativity” might possibly be SC’s comments about him being an immature headcase (which, he is). No one is calling him an asshole or making fun of his mother or saying he’s stupid and ugly and should just go kill himself.
Daniel Cabrera sucks. The idea that his leaving should be met with anything but relief is a joke.

Well...
First, he called Baltimore “a horseshit town” then backpedaled and said he was just referring to the fact that the bars don’t stay open late in an effort to avoid being tarred and feathered. People tend to get a little pissy when you call their home horseshit.
Second, nightlife in Baltimore is not shitty. But you need to know where to go. Baltimore is not the type of town you’re just going to ride into and find a good place to hit like New York or Miami or Montreal. If you’re hanging out in frat bars in Federal Hill or post-frat bars in Canton, you’re probably going to have a pretty shabby feel about what there is to be found. But there is good stuff, it just takes an ear to the ground.
