Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Happy birthday, us

On March 11, 2005, Camden Chat was born, all covered in goo and wailing.

Today, the community turns three years old.

First picture ever posted:

John Maine cut in spring training, 2005

Major Oriole events since CC's Opening Day:

  • Triple-A affiliate moved from Ottawa to Norfolk
  • Pitching coach Ray Miller replaced by Leo Mazzone
  • Mazzone replaced by Rick Kranitz
  • Opening Day Starter, 2005 & 2006: Rodrigo Lopez
  • Opening Day Starter, 2007: Erik Bedard
  • The debut (didn't start) and rise of Nick Markakis
  • Steroid/PED connections: Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Miguel Tejada, Jay Gibbons, Brian Roberts...I'm forgetting some others
  • Lee Mazzilli: FIRED
  • Sam Perlozzo: FIRED
  • Terry Crowley: ...still here
Lots more, of course. Little things. The Todd. Javy Lopez's shitfit, resulting in his embarrassing stint in Boston. The continuing debacle that is Daniel Cabrera. The emergence and trading of Erik Bedard. The trading of Miguel Tejada.

And 90+ losses a year.

I want to send a sincere thank you to all of the users that have spent the last three years (or any portion of it) being part of the CC community. You've made Orioles baseball a lot easier to watch for pretty much all of us, I think, and I know I can say that about me.

Highlights of the seasons for me now include arguing with Jonnypops about everything under the sun (well, almost), cursing blue streaks with 2632 in the gameday threads, Dr Orpheus' strange fascination with Luis Hernandez, the once or twice a year I watch "Second Opinion" and think, "Whoa," and occasionally getting a small NASCAR or Slayer discussion going with duck while the Orioles lose 8-2. And, again, so much more.

So thank you, everyone. O's baseball wouldn't be the same for me anymore without CC and your participation.

Oh nice...
...my anniversary with my gf was yesterday and CC's anniversary is today.  Nice to have all my ducks in a row.

Highlights of the seasons for me now include arguing with Jonnypops about everything under the sun (well, almost)

Thanks, it's been a pleasure...if not an education.  Sike!  Honestly, one of the reasons I started reading this blog was to learn more about a game I've been following since I was little kid.  Thanks to SC and everyone else for all the knowledge, laughs and good times I've found on here.

Ehhhh
I tried to have faith that Hernandez would do a reasonable job at least in the defense department.  That hasn't happened.

My real fascination is with Chin-lung Hu.  Oh, Hu, I have love for ye.  Is it too late to ask you to be our shortstop?  <bats eyelashes while pumping fist in the air...also, playing air guitar>

Happy Birthday CC!!
The one thing in my life that makes following the Orioles bearable.

Things I remember most from these past three years include unusual Google searches with LB3, the OH tirade thread, various references to the A's Nation subcommittee, references to the Bizarro O's, and, of course, throwing down with AMA.

Good times, good times.

Thanks SC
I know I've been a sporadic contributor since being made aware of CC a year or so ago, but I have to say that I definitely keep tabs on what is going on around here.  I promise to increase the contribution level in the near future.

The HLR (High Life Regime for those of you who forgot my brief attempt at bring the O's to .500 last year) is resilient...however, the HLR is also realistic and knows that this year will end up being classified as being taken to the woodshed.

I hope that the team demolition is carried out to the fullest (deal/cut anyone who won't be able to contribute to the team over the 2010-2012 seasons).  I also hope that the community recognizes that what we've been asking for over the past 10 years is actually occurring and is supportive during the potentially triple digit loss season that we're about to have.

Thanks again SC for making the off-season a little shorter - we all appreciate that.

Duck - at least we have NASCAR.  I'm a 99 fan so it's been a little up and down so far this year..damn transmission (and crew chief).  But just as long as the Shrub doesn't win again, I'll be happy.

I'm a Junior guy now
since he doesn't drive a beer car and I can have a diecast on my desk at school.

And stop the hatin' on Kurt and Kyle!

And just for ol' times' sake (and to piss off Westie...)

SLAYER!

I remember 14 straight foul balls in one at-bat.

Let's hope Westie
doesn't end up with a room mate who's into Slayer.

I have post-traumatic stress from all the Slayer I had to endure in college.

many happy returns
and by happy returns, i of course mean wins.

i too echo the sentiment of others in saying that it's great to have a semi-public outlet to commiserate about the dysfuntion that are the Baltimore Orioles.

and i hope you guys find my occasional posts and rants at least interesting, if not enlightening or informative.

I came to Camden Yards to watch the O's and all I got was this lousy "Fenway South" t-shirt.

Thanks to all involved, although the three of us
in Moscow are disappointed (two bitterly) that The Endless Adventures of Sid somehow didn't make the Major Oriole Events cut.

More seriously, and although it sounds vaguely perverse, I really, really hope that CC will cease to be the best reason to follow the Orioles at some point in the relatively near future.

Happy 3rd!

Forget it, Jake. It's Birdland.

On the other hand,
I've been waiting expectantly for Bill & Ted III for what, 17 years now or something, and have still managed to lead a rich, full and productive life despite the prolonged agony of delayed (and delayed and delayed) gratification.

And this is an agony, btw, which has recently been amplified by a collection of x-chromosome-enhanced Hillary supporters -- my girlfriend, boss, family matriarch aunt (and Sawx fen, dad-blast her) and even mom (though she's "not sure" now)-- which has at times come close to driving me around the bend, and I mean a bend as sharp as Kershaw's Public Enemy.

So yeah, I guess I can continue with CC as my Principal Reason to Follow the Orioles for a while without risk of permanent damage. It's even sort of cool to be able to contribute the occasional two kopeks worth to the part of the organization that is so far ahead of and, in a sense, leading the rest.

Excelsior!

Forget it, Jake. It's Birdland.

Newbie
I am still very wet behind the ears as far as this site goes, but I dig youse guys.  In a manly, sports oriented, beer-chugging kind of way.

Think I'll stop talking for a while.  Sit this next one out.  Go O's.   sniff

Our little camden chat is all growed up!
I don't know what I'd do without this place. I'd be alone, wandering the streets of Boston after every O's loss, kicking homeless guys and wailing nonsense into the night about this cast of losers we call a baseball team.
Or I'd have to still be over at Orioles Hangout. Watching my fucking language and shit.

I LOVE YOU GUYS.

Another first...
The first F-BOMB.

And there have been 2,241 "fucks" since... 2,242 now I guess.

There have been more than that. Combine me and 2632 over a season and we've got to be at least halfway there.

re:
I apologize...  2242 posts with the f-bomb in them.  That number doesn't include multiple "fucks" in posts.

Are you counting the "motherfuckers"?
Because I don't know if you've noticed, but I have a tendency to use that word a bit.

re:
I just did a search on the word "fuck."  So anything that contains "fuck" was shown... but like I said it gave me posts that contain the word "fuck."(i.e. this post would show up once even though contains 3 f-bombs.  So as a correction I will issue the following statement:

There are (now) 2,244 posts that contain the word "fuck." (4-2,245)

Please add the no. of "clusterf*ck" uses
since its my personal 2632 favorite-- and, in fact, the best single word I've encountered to describe the past decade of Oriole magic.

Happy B-Day CC!
Now get your asses back to work!

It's too bad that we can't bring Larry Bigbie for a surprise cameo in our anniversary celebration.

His first mistaken comment in this thread made me laugh out loud more than few things ever have.

3 Years?
Wow, time sure does fly when you're watching shitty-ass baseball, doesn't it?

Thanks Camden Chat, for giving me a proper forum to vent my sports-related rage without committing bodily harm to members of the Angelos family.

Go O's!
