will hayden penn ever see rainbows?
or the second round of cuts thread starring:
hayden penn, bob mccrory, freddy deza and zach dillon.
not really surprised aboudez, dillon and mccrory, but though penn would get more of a shot at the 5/swing man role. he's pitched fairly well thus far and yesterday shouldn't have changed that assessment, really.
i reckon we'll be seeing bob mccrory again before the season's over. also, any comments on today's proceedings?

We may very well see Penn, too
I still can't shake the memory of watching Penn his offspeed stuff on a string one start. He had absolutely sick stuff, once upon a time. As we've seen with D-Cab, though, "stuff" does not equal "success."

Rocky Cherry, son of Merry Cherry.

Cabrera could have joined the Tampa Bay pen immediately. Instead, he took the Orioles' offer of a Triple-A contract and a September callup. He's under control through 2011, so this is a very nice move for Baltimore.
As I recall he is injured, so I think he can be in the minors on a rehab assignment of an indeterminate length.
Supposedly to prep AAA rotation
I'd post the link, but I'm assuming everyone here, like me, is all over the O's articles in the Sun as soon as they come out. Especially if you're killing time at work. It does intrigue and impress me that O's articles are always in the top 5 most read on the site. That's a sign to me that people still care and the team still has a fan base that will show up if we ever start winning again.

people caring
re:
Anyhow, haven't we been told for a while now that the O's have a lot of pitching depth and it's a strength of the organization? Oh, they are all minor league pitchers who may never amount to anything? Damn.
Given that the pitching isn't really a strength in terms of being MLB ready, who cares who the O's throw out there as a 5th starter? Cripes, they have D-Cab as the highest paid pitcher in the rotation sitting at #2. Take the guy who will be able to mentally handle it and protect the guys who can't. Seems to me Olson was overwhelmed last year. Penn got battered and I'm not sure how he'd react. Plus, he still probably needs to pitch innings to recover from last year. Let Liz pitch AAA innings and figure out his mechanics before he's under the knife. Burres has done the swingman role before, so at least he has the experience. I don't know about Albers.
Maybe some day all this supposed pitching strength will show up. Hopefully the O's will let the arms develop and I'm all for letting a journeyman (like Burres) take a pounding in the meanwhile.
