Words from Larry Bigbie in Japan

Article on Yahoo this morning.  I'm surprised B-Rob didn't call him back and leave a nice voicemail.  Only 11 more days till opening day!

But...
I don't want to feel sorry for Larry Bigbie.

Hope he does well in Japan.  He's obviously making more money.

I love
how he tried to downplay ratting people out in the Mitchell Report. What a wuss

by oriolez on Mar 20, 2008 1:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

why is he a wuss?
He should go to jail but uphold the "honor of the clubhouse?" What a total, steaming load of bs.

Is that what I said?
Of course not.

What I'm saying is, he shouldn't try to backpedal or mitigate the fact that he ratted people out. "It wasn't that way at all"...what way was it, then? It is what it is: he tattled. I would have too, but I wouldn't try to downplay it or come out after the fact and act like it wasn't that simple.

not really...
what i read was that they had they goods and they asked him to confirm.  see, lying to a federal agent in and of itself is a federal agent or obstruction of justice, so, yeah...should he go to jail to for his knucklehead teammates?  i think not.
So, I said, uh, lama: how about a little something for the effort?

by jq higgins on Mar 20, 2008 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

you misunderstand
I'm not saying he should have lied. If you read that article, he said this about his spilling the beans on peoples' steroid use: "That's not how it went. That's not how it went at all". It's silly of him to say that, because how else could it have gone? What is he saying, that he DIDN'T really tell them that? Or that he was tricked or coerced? I'm not saying he did the wrong thing by snitching; I'm saying it's silly of him to now sort of pretend like he didn't, that's all.

but...
how did he snitch?  they had the data and asked him to confirm or disconfirm.
So, I said, uh, lama: how about a little something for the effort?

how did he NOT snitch?
let's say you knew a guy named Joe Smith, and you knew he robbed a bank. You're brought in for questioning, and asked "We have reason to believe Joe Smith may have robbed a bank...can you confirm whether or not this is true?" If you say yes, you're tattling on him. Again, in Bigbie's case it was the right thing to do and there's nothing wrong with it at all, but "confirming" is essentially the same thing as outright telling on someone...maybe he feels better pretending that it isn't

I'm sure...
all the drug dealers in Bodymore, Murderland are really proud of you today.

I remember 14 straight foul balls in one at-bat.

and if I know Joe Smith robbed a bank...
...I'm damn sure saying yes, because A: if I don't, I'm putting my own neck out there and B: wtf do I owe Joe Smith? Should Bigbie have committed obstruction of justice just so he didn't "tattle?"

by KenDixonFanClub on Mar 22, 2008 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jesus...
"Should Bigbie have committed obstruction of justice just so he didn't "tattle?""

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, NO!

I'm not going to try and explain this again, I did it clearly enough before, more than once. Just read my other posts until you understand, I guess

Tattled? Really? That's the word you want?
What, are you 4? He cooperated with a federal agent. Have you read about the IRS guy that's heading this up? He makes Elliot Ness look like Sgt. Schultz from Hogan's Heroes.

You can argue about whether he should have cooperated with Mitchell, but you can't fault a guy for testifying to a federal agent. Unless you think you could do better with a few guys in dark sunglasses, guns and the threat of federal prison hanging over your head.

I remember 14 straight foul balls in one at-bat.

I have no problem with him cooperating
I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents I have no problem with him cooperating with federal agents

IT'S JUST THAT NOW HE'S TRYING TO ACT LIKE IT WAS NOT JUST A CLEAR-CUT SITUATION OF HIM GOING IN AND SPILLING THE BEANS, WHEN IT COULDN'T POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER WAY. YOU'RE A GROWN MAN, JUST ADMIT THAT YOU TOLD ON PEOPLE, DON'T TRY TO SAY "IT WASN'T REALLY LIKE THAT"

Bigbie
Well, he heading to Japan even w/o the Mitchell report.  His salary there is far greater than anything he would have earned on a minor league/spring training invite contract in the US.
