Who pitches on Monday?
Today Traschel and Loewen pitched, which means
Friday - Guthrie
Saturday - Cabrera
Sunday - Burres,
and by Monday, no-one has had the traditional 4 days rest. Could this mean a start for Matt Albers? We wouldn't seriously ask Trax or Low to skip a days rest, that seems to be asking for trouble, right? I wouldn't mind seeing Albers start, he's looked OK in long relief, but I wonder if Trembley thinks he's ready.

Trax could do it.
Lowen should be in Norfolk.

Couldn't they have called it a rehab assignment or something?

I'm pretty sure the Commish's office frowns on bogus DL stints

LOL
I know. Listening to the radio broadcast, they were saying that on a lot of teams, a guy coming off injury like Loewen's would have started at AAA to work out some of his issues, but on a rebuilding team like the O's there was no reason to not let him re-learn (did he ever know in the first place?) how to get major league hitters out..
I (wrongly, I guess) gathered that to mean that there would have been some provision for him to start the year in the minors due to the inury he's coming off of.
Manfra and Angel, I blame you.

Worked for the Redskins
for damn near 10 years.

Oh no. That might make Adam Loewen not pitch well.
I figure Trachsel could bite the bullet and give us five innings. Make sure Albers stays rested over the weekend just in case.

Touche.
It's just annoying because seeing Traschel pitch if he's not ready will be truly painful

I'd like them to start Albers
I wanna see what the guy can do with more than an inning or two.
Given the choice between Trax and Loewen, though, I'd go with Trax, because we have nothing long-term to lose from abusing him, and he throws slow enough at this point that his arm is probably less abused by each start.
If Trembley is willing to start Albers, I'd almost rather start him Sunday and give Burres an extra day of rest. I seem to recall Burres was much better on extra rest than regular rest last year (could be making this up). This would also allow Albers' first start to be against Tampa rather than Toronto, and even though Tampa might be the better offense, it's probably the lowest-pressure atmosphere available.

Albers
I'm afeared that we wouldn't like what we see him do with more than an inning or two, but it's more that "nervous" afeared, rather than truly afeared. I'd like to see him get the chance, too.
For the 2007 book, Prospectus thought his future was probably in the bullpen. This season, they figured he would be "an overmatched fifth starter" for the O's.

And then I got REALLY mad that Brandon Fahey and Jim Johnson are both wasting roster spots.
