Blue Jays 11, O's 3: Trash Man knows where the trash will go
via d.yimg.com
NO.
Not a good day, tater. What a total debacle.
Trachsel: 2 1/3 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Aquino: 3 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Bierd: 2 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 K
Sarfate: 1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 K
Sarfate's ERA is now juuuust under eight, at 7.94.
Luuuuuke and Markickass had two hits apiece. Markakis and Melvin Mora had solo homers.
The other run came from Adam Jones, who crushed his first Oriole home run, right down the left field line and barely fair. But man, he smoked it off of Jesse Carlson. First of many to come. It was his mom's birthday, his t-shirt night at the park (15,000 attendance! Great success!), and Jackie Robinson Day for MLB, with Jones wearing No. 42 for the O's.
Other than that, just horrible.

Bierd!
So Trembley’s gonna wear him out by June at this rate.

Good to see Jones kicking some butt
He’s up to .286. Kickass and Luuuke dong the job too. I’ll take that. They, along with Roberts, just have no help.
Trax and Aquino are about what we’d expect. NOT Birdland. So throw some more spaghetti out there and see what sticks.

I was there
The worst part was seeing Safarte get knocked around at the end of the game. The dude’s fastball is a thing of beauty, but it seems that after a few pitches, the hitters were able to figure out the timing. And when they connect with a ball going that fast, it goes far.
Safarte has the speed and nice control, but what he doesn’t seem to have is a breaking ball that he can rely on. He relies heavily on his fastball. Which is awesome, but its not enough. If he figures out how to mix it up a bit, he’ll be unstoppable.

I was there, too..
and I totally agree. Sarfate seemed quite visibly shaken after the first run came in, though…and that worries me in a very D-Cab sort of way.

bierd looked good, though...
and based on earlier comments from the trembley zone, it was shitty to see them throw in the towel so early, which is what the entrance of greg aquino signalled to me.

for the record...
ketchup was the victor.
in the game of either/or, elvis prevailed over the beatles w/ jay payton writing in jay-z.
the ball started and ended w/ the middle crab.

BTW, Hig...
I didn’t see your post about where you’d be at the game until after I got home…
I’m pretty sure you’re not losing sleep over it, but I wanted to apologize for “ditching” you.
Also…..Elvis? I’m so sure D-Cab and Luis Hernandez are huge Elvis fans…

Reruns
Both the Elvis-Beatles either/or and the crab shuffle were reruns. Elvis-Beatles was played on Opening Day.
On the crab shuffle, I knew it would be the center crab just as soon as the wave took the crabs under and the last crab popped up in the middle.
I still havn’t figured out the cues on the hot dog race….

First place is not Birdland: #$%&...
And I was really liking that feeling. Oh well, maybe the Wangmeister can help us out in the Bronx tonite; he’s been on freakin’ fire.
There’s no Blown Hold stat, right? Presumably Aquino would get one for this game. But then there is a stat that fits for the Trashman’s effort. If W is one of the most overrated indexes in the sport, L is much less so. And he L’ed this one bigtime.
Hope springs eternal. Maybe it’ll start raining: Day off, everybody goes to the movies, plays video games, talks to Crowley, generally gets their mind of actual baseball so it’s clean slate day on Thursday. No rain? Then it’s Adam against the WrightSox, and buckle up.

The Adam Jones tees are balla as hell
Orange Orioles shirts are a big hit with everyone I know. Totally worth the blowout.

One thing I learned from last night
If you want a T-shirt, make sure to buy your tix beforehand.

So the Pink Hats will get all the Markakis shirts...awesome.
Why the Hell Not?

wait, really?
I assume their idea is getting more O’s fans in the Yard for that game, but all that’s going to happen is a bunch of Red Sox fans have Nick Markakis shirts.

Ugh
I was just looking at the promotion schedule and they have TWO t-shirt night against the Red Sox. I mean, seriously? The Red Sox ARE the promotion, they don’t need to add another one. And you’re right, it won’t attract more O’s fans. At least, not enough to make a difference.
