SID-NEY, SID-NEY, SID-NEY!!!
House pools:
1. No. of innings El Sid goes in this start. ___
2. No. of days he stays in the Bigs. ___
I’m, thinking
(1) maybe 3 and 1/3 and
(2) what, two starts—9 days.

Um, excuse me there, Titov, but Sid was "solid", sez Lone Star Ball:
“Sidney Ponson looked better in his Rangers debut than the score at the time of his departure in the sixth inning made it appear. The right-hander surrendered five runs over his 5 1/3 frames, but errors rendered four of those tallies unearned.”
Sid is the Nixon of MLB: his career keeps dying but he’s always coming back. And I’ll bet he’s got 2-3 years more of people taking flyers on him (although one of those may be with the Japanese Central League—which will be sort of cool, ‘cause there he’ll have to hit.)

I respectfully disagree with the Nixon comparison.
Sidney is the George W. Bush of MLB. The fans all hate him, but the press and the Congress (team front offices) just keep giving him a free ride.
Bush failed upward all the way to the White House (and, imagine this, there was some talk once that he would be Baseball Commissioner!) and Sidney has failed upward to the point that, by the end of his career, he will get two starts with ever major league franchise.

I have to grant you one thing: GWB has now surpassed RMN in the category of "the fans all hate him."
He has the lowest approval rating in the history of approval ratings, topping (er, bottoming) even Nixon, whose administration was accurately summarized not long ago by conservative columnist George Will as “a crime wave.”
But Bush has never flopped. As you point out, he’s done nothing but fail upward. Nixon, like Sid, flopped badly in various endeavors—but dragged himself back into the public eye and public office.
Oh, and don’t count GWB out yet for Commisioner of Baseball. In which case we may see the National League invade Iran or something…

He will invade Iran
using the American League. After all, they have the designated hitter rule.

Their AAA shortstop?
Whoever that might be… he’s probably better than what we have now.
