Hallelujah! Fahey and Aquino finally gone
We're back up to 13 pitchers, which is lame, but hopefully after we recover from the double headers and such we can get Scott Moore or someone up here on the bench.
Now, send down Eider Torres and bring up Cintron!
I look forward to seeing Olson pitch tonight. Hopefully he can forget about how awful he was last year in the bigs and build on his AAA success.
If Olson proves himself worthy and Loewen's stay on the DL ends up to be short, any chance the Trashman will get sent packing?

In a word? No way in hell. Trax is probably here for the duration.
I’m just being greedy now but I kinda wished we would have got Clement from SEA in that trade as well. He is absolutely raking in AAA and looks to be called up and DH pretty soon. I know, I know, Wieters. But so what? I’d rather have two guys that can play even though they play the same position when we have already seen the other end of the spectrum with our SS.

Send him to the bullpen
Trax actually pitches pretty well against lefties, oddly enough.
Make him the LOOGY and trade Walker.

I still say...
that Trax stays the entire year…which was the question. Easy or not I think he stays.

I have the same feeling. Trax is teaching the youngsters how to prepare.
Like how to get ready for an early night out on the town after getting shelled in 3 innings.

More Moves Needed
-Call up Cintron to start and send down Torres
-Swap McCrory for Moore
-Trade Payton and call up Bynum (when he’s ready)
That would give us a bench of:
Hernandez
Quiroz
Bynum
Moore
Still nothing to brag about, but at least it’s vaguely Major League.

Bynum
Why is so many people in love with this guy? He’s just as terrible as Fahey though slightly more talented.

quite a bit better, actually...
he can legitimately play both middle infield positions and is a decent outfielder. doesn’t get on base at a great clip, but has decent pop against righties. he is a useful role player.

A Role Player
But knowing the Orioles, they would start him constantly trying to give him a chance to win the position at shortstop. I’m sorry, I am not a fan of his, but I am not necessarily a fan of anyone we have playing shortstop.

he's much, much better than Fahey
Better fielder, more legitimately versatile, runs better, doesn’t make plays that would embarrass Little Leaguers, and has shown an ability to slug a very little bit against right handed pitching.

everybody say Amen!
I admired Fahey’s spunk when he first came up.
But this year I got embarrassed whenever he came to the plate, even though I was sitting alone watching the game. When you can make an Oriole fan embarrassed, man, you suk.

Fahey signed a ball for me last season
I snickered the entire time.

Glad to see McCrory get a shot...
...but we could use bench help more than ‘pen help right now.

For the next few days
we need bullpen help. By Friday, yeah, he should be back down and Moore back up.

Why don't we just cut to the chase
and DFA Fahey as well?

Cintron
I don’t really understand the excitment over this guy. Replacing Hernandez/Fahey with him is essentially going from awful to horrible. Not a real big upgrade if you ask him. Is his defense any good? I’d say the one good thing about Hernandez is he plays pretty solid defense (which in turn can help the pitchers at least).
I understand that everyone is frustrated with the SS situation. But I think its pretty clear that none of these guys is a long term solution, they are just cheap stop gaps. So whats the harm in playing them? We’re not competing this season anyway. I’m sure the O’s will find the SS of the future sometime within the year (personally I’m hoping for Gordon Beckham of Georgia).

Hernandez is supposed to play solid defense.
But he’s not playing solid defense. And his inability to hit the ball makes him useless.
... But I suppose that’s relative here. He’s hitting better than our cleanup hitter and a few other guys. And I won’t forget the time he got us a game-winning hit several weeks ago.
Or maybe I’ll forget about it if he sucks for another week.

Cintron
Cintron can actually hit and has a major league track record. We cannot keep our pitching staff out there to make up for constantly poor play by our shortstop. How many times has Torres, Hernandez, or Fahey put the pitcher in a bind by not doing something very routine? It has happened way too many times to count, and it is not May yet. The kids can’t play the positions, and the only way we are going to fix it is to trade for a shortstop prospect. Or, we can continue to plug in defensive-minded veterans to anchor the position. Either way, I’d be happy.

No one’s excited over Cintron. We’re excited about the possibility of seeing a middling major league utility player instead of a goddamn minor leaguer.
Hernandez’s glove is a lie. He has no arm.

With Fahey, Hernandez, Torres, etc bumbling around all trying to play SS, that left absolutely no one in place to give Roberts or Mora a rest. The O’s will need a bench to cover for the eventual injury. Could you imagine two of the above three covering the center of the infield?
Neither is very exciting, but at least Cintron and Bynum provide an upgrade. The O’s are still one injury away from some real problems. If Roberts goes out a spell, the infield is going to be brutal.
