NYC is Birdland. (Updated with meetup location)
I'll be in NYC for business next week (possibly the first and only perk I've ever gotten in this job). Our friend, zknower and I were thinking we'd watch the O's vs. Jays game over a few beers at a local drinking establishment Monday night, the 14th.
So, do you live in the New York area? Do you dig the Orioles? Do you at least like beer? If you answered yes to any of those questions, this is the event for you!

I do enjoy beer and the Orioles
But I don't think a "yes" answer to that one question helps to make this less logistically difficult for me since I am a "no" to question 1. :-)
Not sure yet.
My hotel is in mid-town. Z lives in Brooklyn. Bar location is TBA.

I live in the East Village.
If you guys want to do someplace downtown, to make it less of a haul, I'm game. In my hood there's Croxley Ale House and the gentrified version of Phebe's.
i LOVE croxley's.
haven't been there in a few years. do you know if they typically carry all games?
i'm happy to go to manhattan to make things easier.
I don't know
but if it's a Monday night and they have one of the packages (Satellite of Xtra Innings) I wouldn't think it would be any trouble getting them to show it.
only question is, there are 3 hockey games that night.
but assuming they have lots of TVs, i'm sure they'll put one on for us somewhere.
I looked at the Phebe's and Croxley's websites, and both of them have 10ยข wings on Monday nights if you're ordering beer. Cool.
Either of these places would be fine with me. Croxley's has some outdoor seating which might be nice if it's warm next Monday. But I've never been to Phebe's and am always up for trying a new place.
For the record, game time is 7:05 pm. I wonder if either place has WiFi? We could be total geeks and liveblog at CC from the bar.
10 cent wings?
Consider me a fan.
Just don't get mad when I get grease on y'all's laptops.

Okay JP
You know the venues, make a call. Croxley or Phebe's? We need a decision.
And what time are we gathering? 7pm?
7 works for me.

7 works for me
as of now. I might need to work late but if so I'll just hop over a little later.
I want to confirm that both places still have the MLB package and that we'll be able to get the game on. I'm leaning toward Croxley's - but they aren't picking up their phone at the moment. Once I get ahold of them and get confirmation I'll let y'all know in a post on here.
Okay we have confirmation
But the more I think about it, Phebe's is a lot closer to the trains for people taking the subway down. So the call is....

problem with w-burg & greenpoint though

I am pimping this diary
If you read this, rec the diary so it stays up for a few days. It would be nice to get a whole passel of NY fans to this event.

WINGS AND BEER AND BASEBALL.
I think that's worthy of being called an event.

So was there a conclusion?
Where's the get together - final plans? I'm an UWS'er, and can make anything outside of the B&T neighborhoods.
i hope you made it

Finally back from NYC
And I must say, Orioles fans are good looking people.

I saw him one time at the New York Film Festival
He was in the bathroom trying to get a food stain off of his shorts and completely bereft of dignity. It was pretty funny and would make a funny insert in one of his films.
