Gameday Thread: Red Sox (24-17) @ O's (19-19)
Boston @ Baltimore
| Today's Starting Pitchers | GS | IP | ERA | WHIP | BAA | BB | K | W-L | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() |
Josh Beckett - RH | 6 | 41.1 | 3.70 | 0.94 | .204 | 8 | 42 | 4-2 |
![]() |
Jeremy Guthrie - RH | 8 | 50.0 | 4.32 | 1.26 | .242 | 16 | 32 | 1-3 |
Two-game series. They're a lot better than us. Back at home. Beckett's good. Guthrie was good (2.41 ERA) but lucky (1.45 WHIP) in three starts against Boston last year (0-0). Beckett was outstanding (2.28/0.97) in three starts at Camden Yards last season (3-0).
We (.244 AVG) can't (.314 OBP) hit (.383 SLG) at all (.697 team OPS). This could be no fun whatsoever.
Take a look at these lineups. This is a gross mismatch.

A gross missmatch, indeed.
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again."

Paging Norfolk
Please send anyone with bat capable of not embarassing themselves to Baltimore. That is all.

Seriously
There’s no offense going on at the Triple- or Double-A level. And even if there is its from Four-A type guys.

I'm trying to remember....
who is the last masher that we’ve had? Belle? I suppose Sosa was supposed to be one. Anyone else?

Can we please talk about the MDM some more?
Beckettt’s one of my favorite non-O’s pitchers. I hope he gives up 7R, 3IP.

by Jonny Pops on May 13, 2008 7:16 PM EDT 0 recs
oh my God.
They took 1/3 of an inning to expose Huff as a third baseman.

why is Payton starting
Mora is better much better with the glove. Put Scott in LF, Aubrey at DH (where he belongs, and Melmo at 3rd.

Aubrey..
had better make up for that play with his bat.
by getxstoked on May 13, 2008 7:20 PM EDT 0 recs
We should be out of this, with the blown strike 3 call on Manny and Aubrey's error.

talk about having to DIY as a pitcher. Is fucking Millar working for the BoSox again?

He probably
has Oriole Messiah fantasies on his drive to work from time to time…when the reminiscences of his Boston glory gets a little old.

How is it a saving grace that it's only the 1st inning?
I want this thing to be over already.

Just listen to the hum of that Offense!
Nothing quite like runner on first and second with no outs and then having your next two hitters K.
