Around SBN: Pens to sign defenseman Jay McKee

Off Topic: Quite the Typo

Everytime I post one of these people always react strongly that it has nothing to do with the Orioles, but this line from the New York Times today made me chuckle.

The Yankees will open interleague play at the Stadium Friday against the Mets and Johan Santana, last year’s A.L. Cy Award winner.

For starters, I'm going to guess that C.C. Sabathia and Cy YOUNG might have something to say about this information.

The Cy award...really?

I really hope that Santana kills the Yankees tonight. If only he were matched up against Ian Kennedy...

Here's the link, though they might fix it.

C.C. gets no respect

A couple days ago on mlb.com I saw a headline that referred to “reigning Cy Young award winner Josh Beckett.”

"We’re not concerned about what other teams think. I know teams come in here thinking we’re playing the Orioles. And then 9 innings later, they got the loss, they know what we’re about." ~Adam Jones

people really forget that Sabathia won the thing

True story. Ask 100 baseball fans, average joe fans, who won the AL Cy Young last year and I guarantee that less than 40% of the answers will be Sabathia.

Well, Josh Beckett should have won it

maybe even Fausto Carmonna.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

why?

I don’t absolutely disagree, really (John Lackey had a case, too), but what did any of them do that Sabathia didn’t?

Now John Lackey

is a guy that gets no respect. I doubt if most baseball fans even know who he is.

Worst reason for Beckett to get the Cy: “He got 20 wins” Yeah, and?

"We might as well just win this game." -Adam Jones
