The "Orioles drop below .500" pool
Below .500. So .500 isn't it. It's the game whose loss puts their record at one game under.
I call May 8 at Kansas City.

We'll continue to be strangely effective against KC
Even though they’re a much better team than they have been for the last decade or so.
I call May 14th against Boston.

You mean for good?
Or just the next time they go sub .500?
Next time-May 9th (@KC)
For good-May 28th (vs. EE)

15-13 now, right?
Friday, Saturday…SUNDAY.
I call Sunday. 2 frustratingly close losses and 1 blowout this weekend against California. Yeah, they’ll always be the California Angels to me.

See, I'm counting 1 win each against LAAAAAA and OAK
That puts them at 17-17 going into KC, which is when everyone thinks they’ll lose and go under .500. But I think we’ll hold our own against KC, so Boston will do a 2-game sweep and then we’ll go under.

Anyone know what this is about?

I think that they are suggesting that....
... the game is going to be so bad, you might as well skip it and see a movie.

It's on every team's schedule
Well, I assume it is, since I can only be bothered to check the O’s and Red Sox schedules, and it was on both. Interesting to note no text or trademark information re: the Indy picture. I guess Indiana Jones’ face is a registered trademark of Major League Baseball and may be used only with permission of Major League Baseball Properties, Inc. or the relevant Major League Baseball entity. Whoda thought?

the indy movie comes out that day
How do I know this? That’s the day I graduate from college, which means I can’t go see the movie on opening day.
Yes, I love Indy Jones.
So, I guess MLB sold out in a similar fashion to when they had that Spiderman promo.

May 8
They win one of three against both California and Oakland. Enter the first game against KC at 17-17 and drop the first game.
by drj on May 2, 2008 11:56 AM EDT 0 recs
that was my reasoning as well.
the first game in KC will be close, but we’ll drop it and down we go.

This
is counter-productive and something I am ashamed to be a part of. That being said…I take June 1 v. the red sox.

Ashamed?
So when have the players been ashamed to pick up their paychecks for the past ten years?
There is nothing shameful here, the Orioles have earned this reputation.

He'd call us all a bunch of pansies
I’m pretty confident that’s the word he would really use, too.

2016
Yup, the Orioles are on the ascendancy. They are going to be above .500 for the rest of the year, and dominate for most of a decade.
But by 2016, everyone will be washed up. Thats going to be one kidney-stone of a season…

May 7th at Oakland.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

OK,
technically, the game ended on May 6, because it was played in PDT.
But Baltimo wins for being closest.
I’m bummed we didn’t even get to KC.

I'm still sticking to May 28th
as far as when they’ll hit sub .500 and stay there for good. I mean we have the St. goin’ today. That has to be good right… Our offense can’t get any worse, can it? Maybe Guts will tell DD he wants in the lineup. Certainly couldn’t hurt.
