J.J.'s a private busy body.
He's a handyman, rehabbing a fixer-upper home in Florida. He's a former volunteer firefighter-emergency responder who has performed CPR three times in attempts to resuscitate heart attack victims. If he weren't a baseball player, he likely would have been a fireman. Or a carpenter. Or maybe an engineer if he had accepted that baseball scholarship to Georgia Tech. He loves to fish and to snowboard and to do anything outdoors. "People that know me know I do a lot of different things. I don't like to be idle," he said. "I always have my hand in something and am doing something hands-on."You think he counts the O's bullpen as one of his resuscitations? I mean, what's better than a pitcher who can build toy chests, rewire a house, and renovate a staircase?
His old high school coach calls him "a regular Bob Vila."I'm sure there's a new nickname just screamin' to be found in this article... JimBob Johnson?
"We've told him to watch it with the bandsaw. You don't want to get a finger," said his mom, Gini.Nubby?
FireMarshall Bill?
I'm sure there's something in here just waiting to take hold.

Anybody think it weird...
...that this article ran two pages in the Sun?
Generally, the fluff runs 2, maybe 3 columns. But that’s just me. Listening to Red House Painters, complaining about Sun articles.

off day, nothing else to write about.
An article on the draft would be nice but I’m guessing that’ll come next week.

wasn't sure if it was a cast off line...
they were saying he would’ve gone to georgia tech had not been drafted? was that just b/c he’s mechanically inclined or b/c he actually was recruited by them, i wonder? w/ him, olson and guts, that makes for a sort of brainy cadre on the pitching staff.

Isn't it obvious?
His nickname is now Bandsaw. End of story. Especially with the way he is tearing through batters these days.

I'll be there tomorrow

you should totally start the bandsaw bandwagon...
I don’t know how many people in the stadium would actually get it yet, but it could be you.
