Erbe
Has anybody else taken note of Erbe's last two starts?
He has a combined line of 14IP 1H 21K 2BB, the man is on fire. He has quietly put together a pretty good year for a 20 year old in A+ ball. He has a K/BB of 80/19 in 71.2 IP. But this is particularly encouraging and just maybe this means that last year was a fluke year for him and he will turn out to be a good major league pitcher. Our list of promising young pitchers is getting quite lengthy which is very encouraging because it seems as though you can never have enough pitching.
On a side note I believe I saw tonight that Xavier Avery (our second round pick) signed with us and passed up being the Georgia Bulldogs RB. This would mean our 2-4 round picks are signed already which is always nice.

I guess part of the deal was that they drafted signable picks...
Whatever happened to Wade Townsend anyway? TJ’d?
Also, it’s nice to see Erbe having starts like this… but I’d like to see him do it to someone other than Wilmington. He seems to crush them like no other team.

Townsend
I think was drafted by TB and then tore his shoulder up and is finally back pitching and still in their system.

And not pitching well,
When we lost him, we gained a sandwich pick which we used on G. Olson. So essentially we switched out Townsend for Olson. Although, we were set to draft Chris Nelson before Angelos interrupted. Nelson is a decent a SS prospect with the Rocks. At this point, I think I would rather have Olson over Nelson.

And the MLB
pays more than even an SEC school….

How long before we hear something about Matuz?
Does he sign and for how much? It can’t be Weiters money, can it?

August 14th
Even if they come to an agreement before then they wont announce it much before the Aug. 15 deadline because it will be over slot. It wont be Weiters money, but it will probably be a major league deal with a decent bonus. Over slot deals are not announced until just before the deadline by the request of MLB in an attempt to keep bonus money down.

actually
I’m now reading that the Ray’s might come to an agreement and announce it soon with Tim Beckham, so if that happened then it’ll probably have a trickle down effect with the other first rounders.
