Summer Nights

Danny!
Danny, what happened?
I told everyone that you'd be different this year. That the last couple of years were more about a disagreement in philosophy with your coach. About too-heavy expectations. I told them they'd see that with a little less pressure and the right instruction, you could flourish.
It was nice in the beginning Danny. You and I went bowling at the arcade. Then there was the time we went strolling, and drank lemonade. And you became the winningest pitcher on our team along the way. You even had a special sidebar in our little world dedicated to you.
But lately, Danny, something's different. It's like you've changed completely. You keep hanging out with those other guys. You keep leaving your fastball up with no movement. You're hitting people with your pitches again.
I asked what happened to the Danny Cabrera I met in April, and you said, "Well I do not know. Maybe there's two of us. Why don't you take out a missing persons ad? Or try the yellow pages, I don't know."
It hurt, Danny. It hurt bad. I'm going back to Australia soon, and I may never see you again.
But please, don't prove me wrong. Bring back the Danny I fell in love with. I don't want to wind up saying that you're a fake and a phony and I wish I never laid eyes on you!

well, you said it...
his pitches are going everywhere, especially high. Then he tries to compensate and it hits the dirt…
The man’s lost his control.

His OBP Against has reached .343 and climbing
He was totally wild against Pittsburgh, but tough defense bailed him out of it. I dearly hope he gets it together today, as the opposing pitcher has been pretty decent this year with an OBP against of .307 and a slug against of .377. Given that McClung is still an NL pitcher I’d rank him as slightly worse than Guthrie this season.

re
You cant really compare Seth Mcclung to Guthrie. McClung only has 5 starts and 48 innings on the season. Hes a terrible pitcher on a bit of a hot streak right now and is doing a good job as a spot starter, but hes bound to be relegated to the bullpen again, hopefully with some assistance from the O’s tonight. McClung’s role on the Brewers is what Brian Burres should be doing.

Yeah, 3 QS in a row is a bit of a hot streak
Tonight might be a tough one. Good Danny better show up.

what a beautiful thing it is.
now, I just want the o’s to win today, and I want danny to go at least 6, and not just for my fantasy team’s needs.

Been there, done that.
Once bitten, twice shy, and all the other cliches. Don’t fall for him. He’s going to let you down. Seems it’s too late and you’ll have to learn for yourself. Go ahead, don’t listen to me.
Wasn’t the recent talk about having to work in the change up? That he hasn’t been keeping the fastball down, etc. I’m a little miffed he couldn’t hang on for the July 31 trading deadline bonanza.

Tonight was a good step forward
Yeah, all the hits suck. But the introduction of the offspeed pitch will help long-term. This was a positive step.
