He is meant to be a situational left handed pitcher.
Not a closer.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

That's sooooo juvenile
We’d NEVER use a female version of a name to mock a player. Ever. Right?

Not poking fun at
That guy misspelling his name, it is more the perception that George isn’t a good pitcher and is just lucky because he allows a ton of base runners. I guess I shouldn’t expect any more because it is not like Sherrill plays for the Yankees and N.L. fans don’t ever get to see him.

I was totally making fun
of that dude misspelling George’s name. Absolutely. That’ll learn him!

I'm not exactly sure
what constitutes a good WHIP, but I would have thought “Cheryl’s” would be worse than 1.23. I mean the guy seems to have no less than 2 baserunners every inning he pitches.

Sherrill..
Reminds me of Don “Stan the Man Unusual”, the O’s closer from 30 or so years back. He was always pitching into trouble and then out of it. Earl Weaver called him “Full Pack” because that was how many cigarettes he smoked while Stanhouse was pitching.

Orioles Magic vs Go Cubs Go
Hard to say which is cheesier. Orioles Magic was written in the early 80s, while Go Cubs Go (which you can get off iTunes) was written in 1994, so Orioles Magic gets more of a pass. I think the trumpet call to arms at the beginning of Orioles Magic puts it over the top.

Meanwhile...
- Congrats to Brian Roberts for 1000
- Wrigley Field is an awesome stadium
- A little messy, but our bullpen did its job
- Glad that Guthrie got a win

A one game sweep!
Barely. Two in Wrigley would be appreciated.
Anyone else wondering about Sherrill’s “dead arm”? Wondering if he’s due to struggle because the max number of innings he’s thrown in a season up to now is 45.2? He’s now at 35.0. Does the guy need a rest?

He can sleep when he's dead
Right now, his job is to CLOSE GAMES

Plus, he didn't pitch saturday or sunday, and the team didn't play monday.
How long of a rest does he need? Does he need to take time off to work on a rap album?

i say, work him to the BONE
get lotsa saves before the break, trade him for bedard, and screw the M’s all over again!

Melvin Mora will fill the closer job
Mel can do anything.
He has playoff experience.

I might test that
I’ll play MLB on PS2 tonight, put Mora in as a closer, and see how it goes. He’s got two pitches. Fastball (a smoking 65mph) and change.
