OT: Great Web Content
I love finding new, interesting websites. It goes without saying that the Internets are an unbelievable resource, that over time just continue to grow and in many ways improve. Trouble is, there's just so damn much out there, sometimes it's hard to get your bearings and without a little guidance or a tip. So I thought since we do a lot of OT stuff on music, movies and even tv shows on here, it might be time to steer a discussion back to the medium we're all taking part in.
Just as a starter, what I'm asking is for you to name five or so great websites. Can be any topic (sans porn or other sexy-time sites, please), any format - blog, database, search engine, plain & simple html. Try to think of something a little off the beaten path though. We all know The Google is good for searching for stuff and Photobucket is a good place to store image files. The idea should be to try to turn people on to something new, a good resource, a great way to find stuff, a music blog with opinions you value etc. etc. You get the picture.
FanPosts do not necessarily reflect the views of the editors of Camden Chat or SB Nation. They might, though.

Some of my all time favorites
Television Without Pity
Recaps, commentary, video, forums, blogs on most popular TV shows.
Go Fug Yourself
Spotlight on celebrity bad fashion
The Harry Potter Lexicon
I don’t visit this as much as I did before Harry Potter ended, but it is a one stop location for anything you’d ever hope to know about Harry Potter.
CD Baby
Online location to buy music from independent artists, directly from the musicians so they see more of the profits. My favorite feature on the search page is where you can enter the name of a mainstream/popular artist and they suggest independent artists you’d like based on that style.
Lostpedia
For LOST fans, a wiki that discusses about pretty much everything you could ever hope to know about the show. A good place to visit when you can’t quite remember what happened in previous episodes or how things fit together. And that happens to me a lot.
Also, everyone knows about Baseball-Reference.com so it’s pointless to list it here, but I have to say it’s probably my single most visited website, along with here probably. I use it multiple times a day.

TWoP is awesome
Great, great threads and forums for “24,” especially.

I dig the following two Lost sites.
My Serious, Logical Thoughts on [insert episode title]
The title says it all. The writer usually catches details that I miss.
Not just spoilers, which I try not to read, but the site also collects articles about Lost from the periodicals and newspapers. And their spoilers are dead accurate, which is why I stopped reading them.

I have lost so much time to Lostpedia
Here’s a few of my faves:
The Comics Curmudgeon is a Baltimorean, and he takes a hilarious daily look at the funny pages.
Since Stacey mentioned Lost, Dispatches from the Island is the blog of actor Jorge Garcia, who plays Hurley. Most of his posts are quirky, short and sweet, with a lot of pictures of him goofing around. Seems like a guy I’d like to hang out with.
MLB Trade Rumors is pretty self-explanatory. A thorough compilation of transaction talk culled from MSM sources, with some further insight thrown in by the blogger and his staff.
Even if you’re not a card collector, Cardboard Gods is amazing. The author posts scans of cards from his childhood collection (mostly 1975-1980, with a few 1974 and 1981s) and goes stream-of-consciousness. Most of it’s autobiographical, and he’s talented though neurotic. He’s a major influence on my own card blog.
Finally, Steve’s Baseball Photography Pages has lots of cool high-quality photos of players of the past, mostly 1960s and 1970s.

I never miss
The Onion AV Club (www.avclub.com)
Great pop culture writing, with a good mix of the super-mainstream and stuff that’s a little more off the beaten path. Updates daily.

a few of mine:
Slipcue.com – Joe Sixpack’s Brazilian Music Guide – This is a site I stumbled across recently. I’ve been in a Brazilian music kick for the better part of a year now and this guy has a pretty extensive knowledge of a variety of styles.
Cinema Treasures – This is a kickass guide to old time movie houses in the US and around the world. A real labor of love by the developer.
Cool Hunting – Like the name suggests, you can find all kinda cool shit on here. You can find a lot arguably pretentious babble as well, but for the gems nestled in between, it’s worth wading through. The reader contributions are always worth checking out.
Clean Technica – This is a good spot to keep up with clean, renewable energy technology news, which obviously is a pretty big topic right now.
Real Clear Politics & Pollster.com – these two sites are really where you need to be if you want to follow the numbers game in the Presidential race. Fuck all those pointless “National Polls” the networks inexplicably report on and check out the state-by-states, negatives, favorables etc and you got a much better picture of what’s going on.
Anyhoo, those are mine for today.

Give FiveThirtyEight.com a try
The guy is GOOD. Knows his stuff cold.

The 538 guy leaves me with my head spinning
When you don’t have time to unravel his logic, a good place to go is
electoral-vote.com
Map on the front page gives you easy to understand state by state numbers. Also has links to Senate & House races.
Another good site, run by who I believe is the only Democrat in the state of Oklahoma is
bartcop.com
Unlike so many political bloggers, he is NOT a humourless nerd & provides frequent sidetracks concerning tequila, poker & hot actresses

a few sites that I like
Metacritic – Collates reviews on movies, music, video games. Pretty helpful if you’re trying to find a bunch of reviews for particular movie or album.
James Berardinelli Movie Reviews
Really dig this guy. I Very rarely disagree with him.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any good baseball sites besides the usual suspects like Hardballtimes, baseballanalysts, and baseballmusings
Politics, I used to read the Washington Note and the Washington Monthy religiously but I haven’t been keeping up with these sites lately.
Wolf, wolf, wolf.

I'll trickle in a few
Staying away from politics and a number of special interest type stuff. Also trying for some different stuff that no one has mentioned.
Mindless and entertaining.
The Straight Dope : Like Cecil says “Fighting Ignorance since 1973”.
Snopes.com : The straight dope for urban legends and rumors
Some Others.
The Online Book Page : Uncluttered portal into tons of online literature. Online reading is the pits, but I find myself reading short stories and smaller works that I wouldn’t see at the library or elsewhere. Just pick an author and give it a go.
OSU Virtual Finance Library : A portal to tons of financial related links.
Music at the Gardner : I recently picked this up after I heard about it on the radio. The museum provides podcasts of their concert series, and includes an archive of past performances.
Freecycle : You probably know about craigslist. Freecycle is a network of people trying to unload stuff without involving the cash. I used it to unload a bunch of bricks I had on my hands when I ripped up a walkway. Just one to keep in the back of your mind if you want to unload stuff.
Gmaps Pedometer : The site has a very simple interface for entering any route you might run/walk/bike/etc and give you the distance and elevation profile.

I love that Gmaps Pedometer
I use it a lot.

One more music one
Archive.com’s Live Music Archive.
Lots of bands have become taper-friendly, and you can get some seriously good concert recordings for free. You can stream the shows and just listen, or you can download. Most offer a low-bit and a high-bit option, and some even post the FLAC file, which is lossless.
You can finds shows from Hank Williams III, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Hayseed Dixie, Jack Johnson, and about 400 other bands I’ve never heard of. All legal, all posted with permission of the artist. Just get the FLAC plug-in for WinAmp before you go – you might need it.

I get precious few minutes for the internets these days (as evidenced by my lack of presence here)...
But when I get a chance I waste time on the aforementioned 538, Jezebel (has some celebrity and fashion crap I don’t give a shit about but also has some interesting and well written women’s issues, politics, sex, etc), Huffington Post, and a good friend of mine’s satire site, These Bastards. And of course, the ultimate timesuck, Facebook.
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again."

Fire Joe Morgan. Fucking brilliant.
