.500! Must be a...peach of a hand. Game's at 1. Sadly the Jays won't wear those sharp throwbacks.

Burnett can opt out after this year
He’ll probably have his second good year as a starter.

Trembley
I know they won last night and all but I’m sick of the running yourself out of innings attitude. He cost them two runs last night by sending Bynum with one out with Roberts up. Roberts then singles and moves to third on Markakis single. Bynum should have scored here. But NO. Now there are two outs and Mora hits a fly ball to left that Roberts could have scored on making it 3-2 Jays at this point. Can we get a counter on the front page (like the Cabrera QS counter) on how many games Trembley loses for this club? They aren’t going to continue hitting HRs at this pace so it is going to catch up to them at some point.

Bynum has shown he should never ever have a green light.
The guy is not good on the basepaths, even f he does have a little speed.

and getting the bat taken out of his hand
for no good reason. Yeah, I know we just scored a run. still, I follow the Book of Earl: never trade an out for a run unless you know that one run will win the game. Sacrifice bunts are stupid, unnecessary outs.

There was an AP report that Guts fainted on the bench when he realized he had three [3] runs to work with.
But they brought him around and he went back out for the 3rd.
For heaven’s sake, don’t get him any more, people!

This might be it for run support while he’s still in.
Pitch count is at 81 after 4 innings tho’.

The Orioles had Jones slotted in the second spot of the batting order Saturday, but Trembley said that was due to a day off for third baseman Melvin Mora more than it was a reward for hot hitting.
“Mora will hit third and Nicky will stay hitting second unless I take somebody out of the lineup,” said Trembley. “Then I’ll juggle it and put the best lineup I can out there. I like what Nick’s doing in the two-hole, and I like what Melvin’s done with men on base. Melvin’s driven in some big runs for us with men on base. He’s hit very well.”

OK, stupid technical question time:
My MLB.com connection is coming in GREAT for this game. I swear the picture seems sharper and, no question about it, the full screen variant is, for the first time, actually using the full screen, i.e. the whole available image on the laptop.
Any idea WHY? It can’t have anything to do with the CBC feed, can it?

And he's making it look so...easy. You want to ask Why not just *always* do this?
Sort of like watching Bedard pitch some games last year. There’s something about “grooved” pitching and hitters who are “seeing” the ball well that’s similarly…natural. And deceptively easy-looking.

I know the defense let him down a bit, but this is all Trachsel's fault.
If fucking Sherrill has to pitch in this game Trax should not only be released but possibly beaten as well.

Welp, everybody should really enjoy being over .500-- all morning! Walk around IHoP all cocky or something.
‘Cause at 1:05, we face Roy “Gets Every Homer Call Ever Invented and Then Some” Halladay…at home. ‘Course, we are putting an undefeated pitcher up against him. [Sigh.]
Really, we b#tch and moan a lot about the NYBosawkees getting calls, especially at home, and I think there really is something to that. Not that umpires set out to favor them, but the constant media drumming of the litany we all know —marquee franchises, historic venues, “great traditions”, yatta-yatta-yatta -- has to have a cumulative effect, and umpires are human (take a look at Ron Luciano’s books). No doubt the Orioles got some (repeat, some) calls via “tradition” during their 30 years of consistent success (and Earl was probably a net plus on that score, although umps were, for obvious reasons, not well disposed toward him, so to speak).
OK, granted all that, I have still never seen anybody pork up on home cookin’ the way Halladay consistently does at the Politeness Dome. I have no idea why or how he gets umps to do his business , but it’s almost funny. Just watch today, OK, and see if you notice anything unusually “one-way elastic” about the strike zone.
Right, in other news:
1. Is Trax on a bus? No?!? Judas Priest, can somebody call the Canadian SPCA and have him put to sleep or something?
2. Speaking of the universe exploding and moaning b#tches, I see from the press that Hillary Clinton gave a “gracious” concession speech yesterday. Um, nothing about a primary campaign whose “plan” borrowed in equal parts from George Wallace, the Three Stooges and the Hindenburg. Nope, now we’re all “gracious.” Don’t ya love American politics? Nothin’ else like it, anywhere.
OK, Liz, get out there and, y’know, steal some calls. Hahahahahaha. Go O’s!
