Idea...

Chase Halladay like Burnett yesterday.

Good news...

Steve Phillips picked Halladay for that Double Play competition they do on Baseball Tonight (basically, it’s bare-bones fantasy baseball). And, you know, Phillips is a moron. So maybe that’s a big ol’ jinx for Roy.

yea but who's his competition?

John Kruk? he isnt exactly a winner

It just pisses me off

Liz had some issues in the game, but he fought through them. He wasn’t out of gas and damn it, he earn the right to give up at least one run prior to getting pulled. I don’t want him doing 8 or 9 innings but this BS of pulling him early for the bull pen to screw up on is crap. How are the Orioles supposed to know how much they can work this kid if they don’t try to expand his innings played?

"Beatings will continue until morale improves"

yup,

If he was 19, 20 years old, I could understand the quick hook, but he should gave Liz one more innings with him sitting at 91 pitches.

It's the golden thong

He does seem to go on these tears after looking completely dead. And during those down periods, he seems slow rather than just slumping. If he’s PEDng it up (and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something other than HGH), I don’t know why he doesn’t start juicing it up at the beginning of the season. Maybe he cycles between testings.

There is an article on the O’s site about Trax after yesterday. The last line is-essence-of Dave:

Tough loss

Obviously going in I think we’d all be happy with taking 2 out of 3, and obviously we all expect to lose against Halladay. But we got to him! Yeah, 4 runs isn’t a blow out, but against Halladay it’s not too shabby.

Blame goes to Albers, though it’s hard to get too down on him. Nobody’s perfect and just glancing over his game log for the year and how often he’s been good, you just gotta take it.

I didn’t see the whole game, but I didn’t see any miscues on the bases, which is good. Only real mental miscue I saw was Ramon Hernandez completely ignoring the runner at third who ended up stealing home. Sadly though I’ve pretty much written him off as a viable part of this team.

"We’re not concerned about what other teams think. I know teams come in here thinking we’re playing the Orioles. And then 9 innings later, they got the loss, they know what we’re about." ~Adam Jones

by Stacey on Jun 8, 2008 4:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

RE Ramon's declining value/importance/viability/likability: word. That was not an unusual 1st-3rd ploy

and he just shot the pooch. Jeez, a AA-level mistake, the kind that hurts most when you go on to lose the game by one forking run. Easy to say from up here, of course, but still…

p.s. Sheepish confession: I sort of miss the “Javy” handle (although yeah, -licious as a post-positive enclitic was kinda out there).
