HEY EVERYBODY

I need to know (and I’ll ask later, too, since a lot of folks aren’t here on Sundays) the following:

1. How many of you have problems with long gameday threads (load time, etc.)?
2. How many comments does it take before you start having these problems?
3. Are you having them while also running MLB.tv/Gameday/whatever?

I REALLY hate overflow threads because they’re little, ugly, and show in the Recent Posts section, while the Gameday Threads do not, but I don’t want, like, a majority of peeps struggling to participate, either. That would be really f’n stupid.

So let me know and I’ll figure out how to handle everything from this point on. Generally a game does not go by that one of myself, Z, duck, Stacey or 2632 aren’t around and can’t post a new thread.

And I’m still on dialup, and I’ve got AIM, Yahoo Messenger, and Media Player on.

I've had problems..

Usually at 400-500 it starts to slow down considerably for me.. I have that problem with or without gameday on. Never keeps me from posting, though.

I’m still surprised that the issue hasn’t come up for other people on here… I have a pretty decked out comp.

running a 3-year old titanium powerbook with DSL (wifi)

running the gamethreads with MLB.tv streaming (800k) simultaneously. using safari as my browser.

no real problems. sometimes MLB.tv slows down, but never the game thread. Of course, with the auto-update feature, I rarely refresh the entire page.

however, i am having a problem where none of the pictures are coming up. avatars and everything.

My computer starts to take a bit to load, and I think that I have a pretty good one.

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Today's topped out at around 450

I think unless we’re at 400 by the 7th, we might try and avoid overload threads, unless it’s causing problems. If it is, post during the game, and we can do one if needed.

Now when they cam back from the game

He was practically beaming.

Demspey's saying

extra infield AND extra batting practice. ‘Cause that’s just what they wanna do, show up even EARLIER for a Sunday 1:35 start.

This one's on DD

Burres should never have started the 6th. I guess Crow takes the blame for the first and second ball hitting, although, frankly, it’s not like we ought to expect much.

They could do

We Win, You Win The Stadium and I wouldn’t bother against the Angels.

That

Was not Oriole Magic and that was not Birdland.

Each of 1st 3 innings

BB got the first two out and the 3rd got on. That’s weird.

Wow, you split with a 5th place team

Good job. Wait, weren’t you guy supposed to win your division and we were supposed to lose 120?

Who said that? You? We’ve already had two series with Boston and New York, two of the top three in your divison, so don’t tell me about strength of schedule. I just suggest to Mr. Trebley not to make promises like he did after the game last night.

You're real funny, pal

Who on earth said anything about strength of schedule? And who said the Tigers were supposed to win their division? Pretty much every baseball predictor around in the pre-season, that’s all. I don’t know specifically who off the top of my head. I do know that your team just got a split with a team that has half its payroll and a quarter of its expectations, and instead of looking at the reasons the Tigers are struggling (um, I don’t know god awful pitching?), you are blaming umpires and getting pissed off at another team’s manager for trying to instill confidence in his club. The Tigers are a $137M .500 team.

Well Tillman looked ok tonight at Bowie - wild as shit in the first inning.

Settled down somewhat after that. Their 35 year old closer pitched.

Other than that everybody looked pretty mediocre. Nothing to write home about.
