The Orioles go into today’s game trying to avoid a sweep by the Angels as well as trying to put a stop to two losing streaks: 5 games in a row and 15 Sundays in a row. Standing in their way is Ervin Santana, who is awesome, and Garrett Olson, who is awful.

Brandon Fahey leading off, Dempsey and Hunter in the booth. This has the makings of a fabulous game.

guess he needs the day off?

you’d think with Melvin taking off after his HBP they’d want Brian in there.

Rick Dempsey

leads a pretty charmed life. I mean, he’s in a position that he’s not really that qualified for, he clearly loves doing it, and it’s job that will probably be his until he decides he’s finished. We should all be so lucky.

so -- throwing it out there --- what would you need to have back for sherrill

esp. considering he’s arbitration eligible again and a big part of this year’s puzzle?

a young, top line short stop right? who?

i would never trade him for a prospect who hadn’t cracked the show yet.

Of course

Anderson Hernandez is 25 (SS/2B) and being blocked by Reyes and Martinez is a real real young OF that isn’t going to go anywhere for anyone but Roberts. Nick Evans (OF) and Mike Pelfrey (SP) wouldn’t be bad options either.

see this is what worries me

i just don’t know if anderson hernandez is enough.

The same Anderson Hernandez

who is is hitting .187/.252/.276 in 400ish AB at New Orleans?

His other years have been a little bit better, but he has terrible plate discipline and no power at all. I can’t see him ever being even an average starter. I’d pass on that.

by Joltin Joe Orsulak on Jul 27, 2008 3:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I'd

Take my chances with Hernandez, he’s still better than the option that’s there now.

Olson pitches by inning

1st: 9
2nd: 18
3rd: 14
4th: 25
Total: 66

by Stacey on Jul 27, 2008 2:53 PM EDT   0 recs

So

That pattern would suggest the 5th will be less than 25 pitches.

In innings when it goes up, +9 more. When it went down it went down by 4.

I’ll guess 21 pitches for Mary-Kate, then…
