Liz Down, Walker activated.

According to Trembley's post-game press conference, I'm not sure what this means for the rotation on the coming road trip, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

My guess is Cormier to the 5th slot in the rotation, and Sarfate to the long-man role, though I'm not sure where Burres will end up in all of this.

I need to add ten more words to make this work.

Well.. uhm... another move

Trembley said it himself… Roch’s going to MASN?!

Really?

Great news – and a perfect place for him to “shine”. Anyone want to start a pool as to how long before the first inappropriate comment about Amber?

There needs to be an image of Roch’s “signature smile”. You know, the one with the light flare off his teeth. ‘Ting’

My money is on Cormier starting

I hope not

I’d prefer to see Penn up here. Cormier started in the ATL last year and posted an ERA over 7.

Don't wish a promotion on Penn

You’ll put the poor guy in the hospital

You won't see a worse play than the one you just saw from the Yankee captain... 3DG 5/27/08

After the Game

Unless I heard wrong, Dempsey was saying how he hopes Sarfate was in the rotation. They are not happy with Burres either, so we may need 2 people going into the rotation with Olson on a short leash to be the 3rd one replaced. D-Cab should just thank his only consistent talent - throwing lots of pitches and innings.

Is it beyond the realm of possible that Johnson could start?

He dispenses with batters quickly. Throws strikes. Seems to have inexhaustible arm strength.
Was he ever a starter in the minors?

He was always a starter in the minors

But he throws harder in the bullpen.

I’m all for giving him a crack at the rotation – he can always go back to the bullpen if it doesn’t work out.

roch is saying now that a double aa pitcher is an option, too.

Johnson as a starter... No.

First and foremost, he has been a reliever all year. We would be pulling a Joba Chamberlin type of move and he won’t be able to give us innings probably for a month or so and by then, it will be September and the bullpen arms will have fallen off.

Second, the guy does not have a great track record as a starter. He became Major League caliber with the switch to the bullpen.

JJ

JJ became a good pitcher because of his new power sinker, not because he became a reliever. I wouldn’t be surprised if his velocity decreased as a starter, but as long as he keeps the sink on his fastball, he’ll be fine as a starter.

Wolf, wolf, wolf.

There's only one way to find out

And that’s to let him start.

If it turns out his stuff stinks as a starter, then put him back in the bullpen.

I think it’s a risk the Orioles have to take, given how much more valuable a starting pitcher is.

Hey if Jim Johnson moves to the starting rotation

maybe ESPN can have 12 million news stories about it like they did with Joba “Tastykake” Chamberlin
