Tex is an Angel
yep, here it is. looks like the braves get kotchman and minor league pitcher steven marek. does this kill any chance of us getting tex next year? well, the angels dont strike me as the 2 month rental-type, but with boras scheming in the background and with mark's apparent desire to play in bmore, who knows? what it does mean is the angels are beasts. hey, anyone who beats the phn/mfy's in the post season is friend of mine.

Amen
to that last sentence
Has there ever been a cooler Oriole than Eddie Murray? I mean, just straight up cool. Like a bad, suave dude. You know what I'm sayin'. COOL. SC 7/24/08

this was not smart
Kotchman was batting just as good with a 8 less HR and he’s younger. I think the Angels screwed up here. Tex is great, but LAA didn’t need him .Plustrading away next year first basemen.

Heard Angels GM speak
Said they had two guys in the minors with potential. He trusts the scouting and player development. They’ll be fine.
Imagine an organization that can say that and mean it.

+1
Kotchman was expendable, the Angels like their minor league guys, and get draft picks to give to that excellent scouting department. Tex gives a huge OPS boost – 774 to 902 in a year that they have a legit shot to win the big one. I love it when a team goes for it all instead of settling for playoff appearances.
And the Braves get their 1B for the next few years enabling them to contend for several more years.
Both teams got what they wanted in this trade.
