I'd post pithy and insightful commentary, but I'm still working on sleep derivation from my NY trip, so you shall have none. Les Paul was awesome, by the way. And Shea Stadium has zero enduring qualities aside from the HR apple. Just sayin'.
Go O's.

So based on Pitcher's W/L we should win this
Right?

SWEEP! SWEEP! SWEEP!
Do we have a chance in this game? Well, sure. Look, we are the Best Last Place Team in Baseball. And by a long shot. Which pretty much summarizes our chances today. As the Russian saying has it, Everything comes back around sooner or later. And here we are, ready for sooner but preoccupied with later. Which is simply a paraphrase of the more popular saying, “Let’s kill those douchebags.”
Go O’s!

C'mon, Sir Fartay was the knight King Arthur forced to sit WAY at the end of the Round Table...

Isn’t “Sir Farty” how the other Knights of the Aruban Round Table refer to Ponson?
Oh, sorry, he’s probably “Sir Fatty”. One letter makes all the difference.

On Sid's knighthood document from Queen Beatrix, they used the formal version:

But since it’s been revoked, he’s open to suggestions.

We would be in serious contention
in the NL West. How many stories have you seen in the last week that say “Don’t sleep on the Rockies?” Our record is better than theirs. We’d be 3 games out in the NL West. Three games.

It was my 40th birthday gift
I’ve been talking about wanting to see him since he started playing Monday shows in NYC in the late 80s. Never got around to it. Decided this winter I was gonna go. I spent a few days at my college roommate’s place, and he got us reservations to see Les. That’s why I couldn’t go to the Monday O’s game. But I got to eat dinner and have drinks with zk, and then walk through Times Square and go see Les Paul from a table about 25 feet away. It was incredible.

He plays very slowly
and can’t use the ring finger on his left hand. But he plays very graceful scales, and can crank up the notes per second for short bursts. He’s adapted his playing style to his physical limitations very well.

Sweep
Hopefully the Orioles can own MFY with a sweep like Les Paul owns his signature axe’s fretboard with sweep arpeggios.
I have a bad feeling about this game
But with the series win already in hand, even keeping this game close is gravy.
Let's see if Joba goes headhunting
Girardi is probably telling him to smoke em inside after the Daniel incident yesterday. Joba threw a pitch right at Kevin Youkilis’ head on his last start and got away with it. Let’s see if they consistently enforce the rules in this game.
It’s my sense that the Red Sox team was completely deflated after their own pitcher did not reciprocate after Joba’s “mistake” that nearly killed Youkilis (the only thing that saved him was that his bat flew up in front of his face and tipped the ball, thus compounding the blatant head hunting by being called a strike).
If I does, I hope Sir Farty has some “control problems” too.

I might
have considered a trade of the two previous games to beat the hut tonight, but chasing mooseena again was great and last night got real interesting. Great game. Still, I don’t just hope we beat the hut, I’m hoping he gives up 20 in the first. Then Sherrill can give up 19 in the 9th, only to tease the Yank fans yet again and strike out the final three batters with the bases loaded. The last batter has to be Chad Moeller, though. SWEEP!!!!
SWWEEEEEP
nothing would make me happier up here.
Zaun to Marlins?

The upside to this, of course, is that the O’s rarely play the Marlins, so we may never again have to hear about Zaun’s familial relationship with a certain former Oriole.

Yeah, Sarfate went 4.0 and had 5 R score
so this was an improvement how? If Burres gets to the 7th, we’re back to where we’ve been the last 3 weeks – the starter was short and a long man had to pick up the slack. How is this an improvement?

That is a good barometer to measure suckitude. If you give up a hit to Sexson, you run laps.
One lap for every base....

laps?!?

FYI
Xzibit plays a skeptical FBI Agent in the new X-Files movie (which was awful). We kept hoping he’d pimp Mulder’s ride.

Oh, and PMR? Huge hit in Russia! Think about it: What ELSE does America do well?

I agree with the review
Very disappointing.

It WAS disappointing
It could have been SO much better than that. I mean, the X-Files was really such a brilliant show and I was pretty excited to see it because I loved the show so much. At least Scully looked gorgeous.

I'm in the Mezzanine in Shea Saturday...
and the Mets get a strike call against them. And this moron yells out…
“Hey ump, we’re the HOME team!”
I swear to God, those people EXPECT the umps to be crooked for them.

And the fans want an ejection
on an inside and low curve going about 76 mph when the batter never moved his foot.

OK, any minute now on E! the Denise-swings-down-fire-pole thing's coming on!
I enjoy this program largely for the complex plotting and dramatic irony, which includes Denise asking “Did that paprazzo get my boobs?” and saying “That ’s a five-star penis.”

HAHAHAHAH.
How much do you have to suck for that to happen?

What a shitacular day this has been.

Weird Roster Stuff
Juan Castro pinch hit for DH Aubrey Huff, then wend into the field so that Roberts can go on the bench.
Trembley just gave up the DH for no reason.
Are Huff and/or Roberts on their way outta here?
Look at the score and the schedule
Get them out early in a blowout on the day before an off day flight to the Left Coast. Makes sense.

Probably
But it’s still weird to give up the DH. In that extra inning game earlier this year, Trembley played several players out of position to avoid giving up the DH.
And it’s July 30th, so why not speculate?
